Update......

After leaving a note on his door the day I left AZ I've received a big fat NOTHING!!
I just called him and of course he's not home but he'll be there in an hour....do you think he'll call me back?
I checked into small claims court and apparently you can't file a traffic violation through that court. Anyone know why? What else can I do... sue the man?

Well maybe you if you can't get your money, at least you can always get revenge. My parents former neighbor, who was always a huge prick to all the neighborhood kids, (and most of the adults for that matter) when we were growing up, owned a really nice old car that he almost never drove, but frequently polished. Somehow late one summer night, long after we grew up and moved away, the interior of this car mysteriously became filled with bags of pete moss, lawn clippings and dog shit. Then the car somehow rolled 100 yards up the street, took a sharp left and then rolled another 600 yards downhill across a practice football field and into a shallow creek. Very wierd deal. Still not sure how it happened.

I'd file a small claims asap. I don't know if there is a statute of limitations, so I'd do it soon (before 2/2/08) just in case. How much does it cost to file? I've never done it, but I'd guess between that and the public notice, it couldn't be more than $100. It'd be worth it just to have these schmucks have to face a judge and explain why haven't paid you a lousy $600 after a year, especially after you were so nice to them.

I checked out Arizona small claims court today and their website said you couldn't file a claim with them if it was a traffic violation. It didn't say why however???

A small claims court will allow you to fill a claim for damages. The traffic issue is of no consequences.

Send him a registered letter stating that you will give him 1 week and if you haven't heard from him, you will file legal charges and he will owe $600 plus expenses. If possible have a lawyer do it and he should then take it real seriously.

I had a similar matter of an idiot neighbor running over my maillbox, tearing up some landscaping, and the costs were far less, but my letter worked.

This guy sounds like a real jerk and deserves no further chances.
