I think it's something they do in states with hail damage. After big storms they converge on the area like vultures for that insurance money. Not sure if that's what's going on here or not. Sounded like they were solar/roofing.

Storm chasers are definitely a real thing. Those guys make good money, as in they would leave Cali in old beat up trucks, and come back from Oklahoma driving brand new ones.

I can’t stand the solar ones. Some pretend they’re from the power company talk about meter misreading then go into the pitch.

Others come up talk about the rebates and how it won’t cost me anything. My first words with them I’m not interested and nothing is free. They say ok understand like they’re gonna leave then the round two comes up. Again not interested. Finally have to say just leave with some of them.

It would certainly be nice if the solar sales people would just learn that no means no. Every once in a while, you get one or two of these persistent pieces of shit that just won’t go away. I hate being an asshole, but I’m pretty good at it.

When I first landed as an investigator at CSLB I was told about the "Israeli Mafia" and their racket on the contracting biz in the SFV.

I was like, pfffft, yeah right.

Boy was I wrong.

Their sales reps were all in the military, so they are uber aggressive and not scared of anything, or anybody. And they also use the military spill to get doors to open.

They send sales reps into homes and the reps are told not to leave the house without:

a) a signed sales contract in hand, or
b) the police order you out of the house. Just calling the police is not enough, the sales reps know there is little chance they will show up.

True story, I saw it at least a dozen times.

So the takeaway is - never let a sales rep into your home unless you plan on buying something.

Just the other day I had to get to the mother fucker point with one of these guys.

We had thunderstorms move through with high winds, so the roofers were out. Here is the scam, they pitch you that a new roof is at "no cost" since they will bill your insurance. And of course they always find damage to your roof (from street level). Usually a quick "not interested" sends them in their way.

But not on Wednesday. The door bell rings and I get up to answer it. I had just got home and Wednesday was a bitch of a day, I just wanted to sit on the couch. Opened the door and this kid is standing in my sidewalk, I just told him I wasn't interested and thank you and closed the door. 20 seconds later the bell rings again. Same kid and he starts in on me about how I wouldn't listen and don't even know what he's selling. At this point I'm pretty pissed, I should have just ignored the bell the second time. So he and I get into it and I finally told him he was on private property and to leave, right now. Slammed the door and that was the last of it. But Jeezus, next time take no for an answer.

you mentioned the mormons i have had them come by once and said im not into religion but bs talk with them for a few minutes.Just talking about whatever and outdoors.Kids were pretty cool and didnt mind chatting as they were not pushing anything on me and im sure just wanted to talk other than religion to me LOL.

one i know who is a mormon i told him after and he laughed about it.Told me some dont want to go door to door but have to so when you just chat they see that as a relief.Also told me if you need a hand moving something or help around house really quick they will help you out,

At our KC house there is a ordnance against soliciting. You put this sticker by the doorbell that the city gives you, it says, "No Soliciting" and the law number. If anyone rings your doorbell you get their card and turn them in and the city really goes after them. They learn real quick, we see lots of sales people walk up the sidewalk and turn around and walk away when they see the sticker.

My house sits about 3-400ft from the closed gate, that has a no trespassing sign. It's only open when I'm expecting someone.

If there's a knock at the door, it really gets your attention...and you answer accordingly.

I’m unsure where this was filmed, but in Texas, a lot of people are going to have guns on them. I have a gun within arms reach every time I answer the door. He says the home owner “pulled” a gun on him. I didn’t see it in the video. Maybe he was holding it? If I say no, and you re-knock after I shut the door, I’m going to be pissed, but I’m not pointing a gun at you unless you’re deemed a threat, not a nuisance.

Entirely possible that it's fake. But, I watch a lawn guy that does free makeovers for the content, he films all of his interactions. A lot of people are filming the most mundane interactions now simply to try to build a platform. Is this real? Who knows, so much staged crap out there.
