I always hear people saying that when they retire they're going to move to another country where it's cheaper to live or if so and so gets elected I'm going to move to this country.

Well, I want to know, what other country would you seriously move to if you decided you no longer wanted to live here in the US of A?

Tell us where and why please. Also, for those that have already lived in another country, tell us if you would move back or why you would never go back.

Let's hear it!!

Buddy bought a condo in Spain on the beach in a small town between Barcelona and Valencia... Pictures look amazing I could never convince my wife to leave the state let alone country.

Did he move there permanently?

There's a member here that bought in Italy recently. Hope he chimes in. Forgot his screename.

I’ve heard Greece/Turkey are nice. Retirement dollars go a long way, but you need a second language to make it work.

Live on the Mediterranean with your fishing boat for under a $1000 a month.

I know someone who move to Belize a couple years ago. Sold the house and bought a place down there. Biggest complaint is humidity and bug season.

I lived in Turkey for six months while my parents were escaping Iran. It was beautiful but I was only 8 years old.

I would give Mandurah, Western Australia a shot. It’s near Perth. WA is more like the US than any country I’ve been to and I think I’m up to 27. Most of the shit you hear about Australia is the East Coast.

My wife and I met our friend in Vegas who lives in Australia. She came with her boyfriend who was born in Merimbula Australia. We are trying to go there this year in November. His parents still live there and his dad is retired and goes fishing every day. https://www.sapphirecoast.com.au/merimbula

Watching youtube videos a lot of Americans move to the Philippines. Cost of living is super cheap, its beautiful and they speak english.

My life isn't set up for something like that but lets' say I was retired and single without a ton of $$$ or options it seems like you could live alot better on SS there.

I also like mexico.

My wife is Canadian. We’ve been to Vancouver a few times. It’s really nice city, I could live in a suburb of Vancouver maybe, and spend winters skiing Whistler.

Then again I hate cold weather. 🙄

Croatia looks beautiful but todays political climate, I have no idea. Costa Rica used to be the go to but I hear it’s expensive now. Big Ex Pat community in Panama seems pretty good. The idea of Greece looks good. Architecture and islands seem ideal. Hard to say with growing medical concerns and family ties.

My cousin just retired and moved to Thailand a few months ago. He's a pharmacist and is collecting his retirement and SS from here and also his retirement from Germany since he lived there for 20 years. He's 62 and single (divorced). He sends me videos from the night clubs and strip clubs and the beach and all that good stuff. I always tell him to make sure he taps their necks (adam's apple check) before he taps that ass!! 😆

Barbados would be My first choice. 85 degree air and 85 degree water, 365 days a year. 👍🏼👍🏼. They have financial requirements to move there. 2mil in assets I believe? Go be poor somewhere else, applies to me.

My second choice would be New Zealand. @Racey knows a bit about NZ. It's a BIG country with lots of different climates. It's absolutely Beautiful there. But they Do have an age requirement to move there. You qualify. I don't.

I'm hearing lots of good things about Italy as well. I personally don't know a whole lot. A friend just got back. He loved it and wants to move there.

That’s East Coast and despite what I said, I’d live there too. Smaller towns are pretty cool anywhere in Oz (what they call it) and almost all are close to the water. Same size as continental US, but only 25M people. Most very close to the shore. Australia can be a nanny state for sure, but I’ve found most of the citizens that I would hang with are much more like Americans. Their government has just gotten out of control on certain things. Sound familiar? Even with all that said, I love the Brisbane area, either side of Sydney, south of Melbourne is awesome, and I LOVE Tasmania, but probably too cold for most of the year.

Todos Santos Mexico is likely where I’ll end up. It caters to Ex-Pats and is well equipped with many speaking English including the hospitals, urgent care, grocery stores, etc…

It’s the Baja Peninsula so easy to fly back and forth to the states if I need to.

He's 50/50 here and there, when retires he's leaving the US. Says its the cheap living and Mexico type climate without crime and dirt bags. Fresh food, hot women and laid back beach life with a TON of history.

My brother and his wife have been going around Europe searching for retirement as well. He's a doctor and she's a nurse so they do well. They went to northern Italy last year and they're going to southern Italy this year to check it out for possible retirement living. They are also going to Portugal where I hear it's really nice and much cheaper as well.

I've been to Costa Rica about 10 times. My wife has family over there and they are all well off. I could see myself living there for sure. They have great health care and it's a very safe country.
This. We usually go every other year. If I was to leave here, it would probably be Costa Rica. My wife and I talk about retirement there part time.

Huge spiders and snakes. Beaches with great white sharks. No guns. That’s a no-go for me.

Aren't the people in Barbados mostly poor?

Poor by Our standards? Yes. But you don't Need a whole lot to live there. Everyone seemed happy and content, knowing they live in paradise. 👍🏼

Now, there are Some parts of the island where it's Beyond stupid money. Old money. BIG money. Hotels that start at 1k a night for the Cheap rooms. Pebble Beach style golf courses. I felt perfectly safe everywhere we went. Everyone there was kind, polite and helpful.

Honestly, it's beautiful there and contrary to what you read or see from the media, they love Americans there. My cousins who mostly all live there party like crazy over there. They're all educated and the women are all gorgeous. Let me know when you're ready to go. 😆

The women ARE hot as all hell and I hear they let you throw the mentally ill off of buildings?!!!

I getting thoroughly sick of all this rainbow shit everywhere...............

I hear Portugal is the Idaho, Texas, Tennessee, Florida of Europe. Tons of people are moving there.

I think hiding out somewhere on the Baja Peninsula would be up my alley, but could never convince my wife. Can't beat the Bahama's.
