Kids want to go to Glamis but after last year and Thanksgiving I am over the holidays out there for now. LOL Got some friends/family going to Dumont but I am pretty sure it will be busy there as well. Would like to go camping/riding somewhere though. Where are you going?

Its going to be a zoo everywhere! December and January are always dicey with weather in the desert. Sometimes its nice but most of the time its balls cold! We have gone out to the dirt for the last few years for New Years and froze our asses off. This year we are flying to Utah to freeze our asses off and to visit family.

LOL. fuck yeah, we did johnson valley a couple years ago for new years and down in the bottom of the valley where we camped was insanely colder then up on the hills. It was weird.

Wife had ankle surgery yesterday for a break in 3 places she did on her ATV over Thanksgiving Weekend. No Glamis for us so I’ll just have to binge drink at home this year, lol. 😆 Bourbon and Cohibas will probably be my NYE poison!

Hopefully Ocotillo again also hoping they tell everyone it’s closed again for Covid so we can set up in the same closed section as last year! It was fun watching the dust bowl on the “open” side of ocotillo where everyone else camped.

Glamis! yeah it'll be cold, and busy... but it still beats any day around the house or office!

picking up a new to us RV this weekend... so we're pretty excited about that. Fingers crossed it all goes well for the Maiden Voyage!

Annual Ski/Board trip to Breckenridge Dec 25 to Jan 1.
We head off the mountain Dec 31 and booked an escape room for the entire family at 4 in Denver, then dinner and cards at the SIL house. I am just hoping for more snow

Turn left on ogilby Rd before glamis beach store slow down at train tracks then turn right. Head in past Trump town road goes left then right go in about another couple hundred yards turn right then head towards the north. The further out you go the more quiet it gets. But the further out you go the softer it gets.

Man, I would love to but it is such a far drive for us I cant do it for just a couple days. I would want to be out there for at least 4 days. I am so buried with work right now I am only taking Friday the 31st off.

Have a good time. One day we will meet up out there.

What ended up happening?

I think the timing chain jumped, based on looking at the spark plugs, but I don’t know for sure yet. I’m running out to Havasu tonight to get it.

I’ll pull the valve cover to verify timing, and then pull the head off this week if that is indeed the issue. It’s either getting the head redone and maybe pistons (maybe not if I’m super lucky) or a new long block.

This thing is gonna be really nice and fresh for the next owner 😳.

Headed to Ocotillo and planned on leaving tomorrow morning. But looking at the weather it’s looking to be pretty windy 15 up to 25 mph.
May wait till Tuesday morning to head out and come back Saturday.

What weather? I have been watching the weather and its showing small chance of rain and lightish wind?
It was showing showers in ocotillo Thursday and Friday. Now only Thursday. Looks better now but its a 5 hour drive for me from phx and it's coldout there. Gonna head out to Havasu for offroading and stay in a warm house. 😁

Just checked the weather at the river. Glad we put a windshield on the SXS and my wife is very happy she convinced me to get heated seats.

This is our setup. We’ll also be camping with a 32’ 5thwheel and ram pickup. Stop by if you see us. Going to be on Rasor Rd not basin as I mentioned earlier. Probably 3 miles off the highway

If you go up 3n14 to Big Bear, be super careful and go as slow as you can around the blind curves.

We did it last Sunday, and it was a complete shitshow. I've never seen so many side by sides with Mexican flags and mariachi music, most of the Riders with no helmets.

We came across one head-on, pulled a couple other kids out of a snow bank, and then sat in a line of 25 trucks waiting to get up the last big hill that a broken-down side-by-side had blocked. Once they got it to the side, there were at least 75 side by sides in a line that came down before we could pass.

How long has that area been graded next to the aggregate yard by standard wash? I just noticed it last summer. Anyway we day camped there today. My son rode his new dirt bike. Seems like a cool spot to ride, camp and have a bonfire with drinks, just out of town. We left to go back to a nice warm house but will head back out there tomorrow and ride the bikes some more. Canams on Saturday.

It was cold and windy today in havasu. Had fun taking the canam to bunker bar for the first time. Broke the center link hub bolt and the double sheer kit. Snapped it right off and didn't even oval the hub. The double sheer kit must have saved me from damaging the hub.
