The Maranello is a real classic car, and it takes a dive in price, so you want a 6 year old one. Great car, but with 12 cylinder come more $$.

So here is a brief education on exotics/costs;

I will guarantee you the most reliable exotic ever made are the 2010-2014 Lambo LPR series Gallardo's. Some have 100K on them, no engine issues. I have never heard of anyone replacing the E Gear clutches. Mine is a 2013, 2WD so a 550-2, fun car to drive, but you always give it respect as it will break loose the rear wheels up to 70 MPH. I have had it to 160+ and I am still pinned in the seat. Oil change a year and complete check over, under $500 yearly at dealer. Gallardo's are 10 cylinder, all engineered by Audi, basically bullet proof. You may find a higher mileage one for $110K or so. Used Aventadors, 12 cylinder larger body models run double the price used.

Remember, many participate in events too this is a real part of ownership, and Ferrari social events are very different than Lambo events, so are the owners for the most part. They do put on some charity events to which some of us get invited, I enjoy them all and donate to the cause.

I do know several owners, great people, but most are very different, yet not in a bad way. Many Ferrari owners tend to be a bit stuffy, some trust fund types, not all, whereas Lambo owners are for the most part self made, very casual people and DRIVE their cars, don't just look at them in a garage.
Keep in mind I drive a Honda Civic, Toyota Sequoia and a 7.3 F250.....my opinion on this subject is like a retarded kid judging a Hooters waitress on her personality

Not only can the owners be stuffy, but the public expectations of Ferrari owners requires equally expensive attire. In the mid-90s I was rolling a 348TS as well as a Whippled 5.0 wide body Monster-Miata.

I'm a jeans and tee-shirt guy and those ARE my dress clothes :p The difference in how the public greeted and treated me when driving either was a contrast worthy of a college Pysch course.
Driving the rowdy sounding and looking SC Miata, which was obvious from any angle that it was far from stock, meant I couldn't even gas it up without attracting a crowd, including cops, all wanting me to pop the hood to see how a V-8 got stuffed in there. But these were my kind of people and always a fun experience.

Considering how loud and rowdy looking this little bastard car was, what amazed me most, was how great I was treated by every cop I ever encountered. None of them gave a shit about no front plate, it was obvious there wasn't any place to mount one.

I never got a ticket, was never asked for license and registration, the few times I was pulled over were well deserved, yet the conversation was always the same --- first comment being " Can you open the hood for me ? " then a road-side bullshit session followed.

The most amazing LEO encounter was after I crashed the fucker avoiding another car who ran a stop sign and kept right on going, oblivious to the carnage he left in his wake.
CHP walks up, I'm thinking this might get ugly this time, nope --- Walked up, asked if it was mine, "Yes officer" I replied, "Can you get the hood open ?" --- HUH ????
Didn't ask any of the normal "How fast were you going ?" questions --- never ask for my license, or reg and as what was left was being winched up on the wrecker, looked at me and said " I bet you won't do that again ":p, got in his cruiser and drove off.

Driving the Red (Yes, fucking Red :D) Ferrari experience was 180 degrees different. People would approach, look at the car, most keeping their distance, eyeball me up and down and rarely if ever even say Hi. The few times folks did speak it was usually to inquire what Ferrari dealer I worked for, assuming I was a "Lot Boy" and I'd been sent out to test it or
fill-er-up . :p Not once did a gear head walk over and chat, or did anybody ever ask me to pop the hood, or is it trunk ?

Where as one car evoked warm friendly responses and conversation, the other's was always cold and uncaring.

I can't vouch for any "Pussy Magnet", other than my Hot Wife who found the rowdy Miata intimidating and had zero interest in driving it. She drove the Ferrari once or twice but hated the gated shifter, but felt much safer in it and for good reason.

Within a year I'd sold the Ferrari, just wasn't me, but kept the beast Miata for ten years, it was even better after being rebuilt after the crash --- The cop was right, I never did that again, lol

Now I'm old, I know I'm not a Ferrari guy, not hipster nor wear enough gold for a Lamborghini ;), but I have been eyeballing the Audi R-8s :D Used of course ;)

Hmm, well I got a couple of "Formal" Hawaiian shirts I've saved for weddings and funerals, I suppose a Gallardo could work :D
But, despite the RDP naysayers, It's gotta be a Vert --- cuz I've been waiting for 20 years until I finally got old enough to make the rite of passage from baseball cap to ------

:D:D:D I suppose I should be looking at Jag F-Types

What do you guys think? 308, 328, 348, 355, 360 maybe there's a few I'm not thinking of.... Just curious.

Always wanted a Testerossa but prices are stupid on those now.

Check what a simple, proper belt change costs.
Then ask yourself; do you really want the expense of ownership?

We’re waiting on the mid engine ’Vette.
Specifically the higher performance version when it hits the showroom floor.

I would never have a 360 again, a 430 sure but not the 360, plus the 430 are going to be a lot less to maintain, also if it has over 10k miles on it they are much cheaper

I have owned my 2002 Ferrari 575M Maranello for 4 years and have loved it. It is the 3rd Ferrari that I have owned in my lifetime. They all have been good, but this is the best.
Very low maintenance costs (not cheap, but not bad by Ferrari Standards). I go to some club events and have meet some nice people. My car had 8,000 miles on it when I bought it and now has 15,000 miles. I am using it, unlike it's previous owners. The 575's are known to be among the lowest cost to maintain of all of the Ferrari's. Then sounds of the V-12 are pure music!

Hi Dave, my friend sold his Maranello and regrets it. He bought a 599 and hardly drives it. Maintenance on the 599 never goes less than 15K:rolleyes:
