Just a quick question-
This Orange flatty, is it Sbc powered?

How much (Sbc) horsepower would it take to be a fun cruiser/ski boat?

My brother has a 66? Hallett long deck, he's owned for 15+ years, (no motor) And I have enough Sbc parts good for about 375 hp. Maybe more.

Possible realistic speed on something like this?

Thoughts?

Dan'l my first boat was a 70' Hallett long deck with an LT1 which I believe is 350/350. No gps in the late 80's, but I can say from experience it was very likely 67-71 mph on the top end with a 2 blade and gears most likely in the mid teens % wise- It was a great , forgiving boat to learn with, and set the hook for the faster ones to come....

All these years that I've seen the boat one might of thought I'd have taken a close look at it. It's not like I'd have to drive across the county to see it as it's about 500' away.
I went to take a look and it's not here or out on the water. I sent Keith a text and if he responds I'll let you know what I find.

Great shots @Wheeler keep em coming.

If I have a vote, keep shooting stills. I like to imagine the sounds.

Holy shit dude...

I learned to ski behind Firewater! LoL

They should have taught you to drive too. I hear you crashed into Keith's elco in the upper lot at school?

We had a name for people like you ...SQUID! 🤣

Keith said if you want to come out he would call the border patrol and have 'em let you into Parker. 😁

I did! Right behind auto shop class, showing off in my Mustang.

That's how Keith and I met. ;)

I have my own key. 😉

I do have some pics of us, taken down on the dock of him, Todd and (RIP) Brian.

I scanned em all and burned em on CD to give to him someday.

Thank God there were no cell phones back in those days...

I hear you guys rolled 20 deep. Lucky for RD and his posse they never crossed your path. 😁

Post them photos up and I'll send Keith the link. I'm sure he'd like to see 'em.

These pics are not for public consumption...

Pretty sure RD was still wearing diapers back then! lol

We raised the lock on the gate since your last visit. 👮‍♂️

I'll just stand on your head then! You forget, I know where you live. 👿

MB is short for Mike Brendell. His dad Irv Brendell was the founder of Hondo and Brendella boats back in the day.

Lots of boating history in that family.

I had a MB B52, it was a great boat. Exceptional build quality and was really good at what is was designed to do. BTW, I never crushed a dock with it, not even once.

I met Mike back in the late 70s. He was a childhood friend and high school buddy with fraternity brothers of mine. Great guy and we sure had some fun at Parker in those days when he was driving Hot Damn Hondo.
