You thinking what I'm thinking?
I think so, I can now "legally" speed 🤣
@FlyByWire has a new directive only to pull over nice cars. I’m gonna fly by him in my 80s Corolla and he’ll think I’m poor enough to let me keep going.
I can tell you this, and it's not just a Cali thing, the Prius is the only car I've never been pulled over in! In 30+ years of speeding, and somewhere between 60 to 80 cars, the POS is like a stealth shitbox🤣

I got pulled over so many times with so many tickets in my 62 Chevy pickup all ugly and rusting, but it was fast than when I got my company car (1986 Subaru wagon) I drove it like I stole it. Never got pulled over….

I think it’s Sweden that has similar tiered ticket structure Based on income.

Second try “if memory serves me” the most expensive ticket in the world was some rich guy bombing in his exotic. Could be an internet folklore though, never verified it.

Reminds me of the time I took my daughter to traffic court (ticket for crossing a solid white line)

They asked the full room who was ready to pay their ticket? She was the only one who raised her hand.

I'm not sure how everybody else worked it out, I don't want to know.

Most of Europe has income based fines.

Finland set the record for an executive doing 45 in a 30. Think it was a Nokia executive. 103,000 dollars was the fine.

He was however a serial offender.

California is a lot like Europe when it comes to government. So it is not a surprising move by them.

EU does not have our constitutional protections.

Seems this would run afoul of the equal protection clause???

Of course someone with deep pockets would need to see this through.

CA is also strongly considering switching from a gas tax to a mileage based road use tax. Primarily because the EVs aren't paying gas taxes for fuel. Of course they are blind to the fact that anyone paying for electricity already pays state charges for it.

The other problem with that is the gas tax isn't going to be completely eliminated. And also which gas tax? CA has like three of them. I don't see them giving up that slush fund cash cow. They certainly aren't spending that on road maintenance now or with the switch.

My mom had the same experience with me when I was 16. Everyone before me had nothing but excuses and I'm thinking jesus christ what losers.
Came my turn and ask was I speeding?
Yes I was.
Can you pay the fine?
Yes I can.
Today?
Yes.
Go see the clerk.

I think a lot of the speed limits are bs and really come down to revenue enhancing mechanisms. Yea, some are necessary but, the system is abused.

I fight every single one. On the last couple, I used this firm. They guarantee you’ll win or refund your fine to you.

They won both of the ones they handled for me.

If the state needs more money, just tax the EVs based on the miles they travel since they don’t pay gas taxes and still use the roads that the gas taxes pay for.

Probably easy to get support for that now with all the teslas "spontaneously" combusting lately.

And the ev’s weigh a shit ton more than gas cars. So abusing the roads and not paying for it.
Don't you have a plethora of Cummins powered, smog exempt rides? We all try to get by giving the least amount to Gavin 🤣

So if I understand this correctly. The guys who work at Jiffy Lube with their little rice rockets, Mustangs and Camaros will get a discount when they engage in idiot behavior on the road.

They do this Albany, NY around the school zones 20MPH, over and it's a $50 fine for the first one. They also have school bus camera's at $250 for not stopping for the bus red lights. To top this they dropped the speed limit to 25MPH in the city.

Cams themselves have been tested in the courts so I don't have an issue with those. However the selective/classification of penalty would seem to be ripe for challenge in the courts.

Don't worry about the Speeding Tickets for those "Rich" people making over $80K per year. Soon California is going to start adding a surcharge to your utility bills if your income is over a certain amount to pay other people's bills who refuse to work. It's called Socialism folks!!!

What irritates me too is the CA weight fee on registration for trucks. AZ doesn't have that

Maybe we could add a surcharge to anything sold in The State™️ that could help offset the cost of lower income having individuals’ traffic citations.

Kind of like this fucking bullshit surcharge at the bottom….

Income based on what? Lots of wealthy people show little to no income.

I have a friend that retired with millions. For the first couple years they lived off a large stock pile of “cash” and had all his investments in growth stocks, so almost no income stocks or bonds. Consequently his adjusted gross income was almost nothing.

When trying to sign up for Obamacare ( he was under 65) his income status put him into a low income category and he and his wife qualified for Medicaid for free.

The Democrat‘s answer to everything is more signs, regulations and penalties.
