is competing for your service business .

Everyone has an opinion or even the correct information, but when a factory authorized shop offers the correct info, and asks for nothing in return .......

So many people here want to 'nickle and dime' , even though they have no idea of what they want info on .

I find shops like B & D Marine continuously offer CORRECT information and ask nothing in return .

WHEN will those who are not 'boating experts' realize that some of the shops around here/on this site, offer more than just lip service .

WHEN will you Skater, DCB, MTI, owners stop going to Walmart for services and start dealing with your local people who have devoted their financial lives to knowing the products and offering quality services ???

Support your local boat shop, or loose it !!!

OP asks a simple question.... You sure haven't changed..

I will never change . YOU can do what you like, but 'a simple question', is just the tip of the iceberg .

Next he will want to know "how do I change the impeller" ? "Do I put grease on it" ? "Why" ?

I was 'very patient' babysitting a whole bunch of NICKLE-DIME customers (like you, for decades), who in the end NEEDED to learn that doing these boat services is much more than just 'replacing parts' . All you 'shade tree jack offs' have no idea what kind of dedication it takes to know this kind of craft .

I'm so happy to be out of that world, I tried to help people, it was up to them if they learned anything or not .

YOU call it "a simple question", but that is far from the truth of what is going on with a Bravo impeller . You know that the 'lost blade parts' MUST BE FOUND, and usually down in the oil cooler ! Most qualified shops BACK FLUSH the entire cooling system, to remove all the small impeller parts . Do I tell this guy, or let him learn ?

I commented on the fact that some shops on this site offer CREDIBLE info to 'simple questions' .

So I have not changed, and if I worked on you boat I'm sorry you didn't learn anything from me .

If I didn't work on your boat, I'm not sorry you lost to one of the boats I did work on, but then again you made your choice as to how your boat was built and maintained . Who ever you are ........

Hitting the bottle pretty hard last night George? Lol

Asking for a part number for a water impeller on a boating forum doesn't seem like an unreasonable request.. I'm not really sure how you connected the dots from that question to shade tree jack offs and losing boat shops, but I'm guessing firewater played a hand in that. ;)

Lol. Bill never implied or asked how to change his impeller. George just went straight to calling him out on it. There's a reason I stay out of these types of threads. It always turns into a pissing contest. [emoji106]

But you're here now[emoji12].

But yeah I'm not seeing how a guy who sells house trim is a shade tree mechanic for wanting to change out his impeller.

By most of the previous posts I don't have to repeat, But George Let me reintroduce myself. Back 30 years ago you did work on mine as well as other friends boats. U did a good job, had repeat business and all was good, Until you started building your own boats. At the time I was looking for a new boat as well as another friend. You were proud of your accomplishment and had a good product, Problem is it wasnt for everyone. We ended up purchasing boats from other builders. That didn't sit well with you. I came in to purchase a cable for the boat I was selling. Your partner/employee at the time told me I had to pay cash. News to me I had a check and it was never a problem before. You told him, Go ahead and take it, He'll never be back, he bought a new boat somewhere else. And so it was. I never did come back.
Well the people here giving advice and selling parts are helping people out. They know they can't expect everybody to bring their stuff in for service. This goes for all toys. If he wants to fix the boat in his garage on his schedule, Why is there a problem. Maybe he doesn't have the time for two trips to the shop, Boat sitting outside waiting to be serviced, Possibly raining that day. Feeling comfortable knowing he did it himself and if there is a problem its on his hands not somebody else's.
I didn't know that OD1 stocked parts good to know, And if I need an outdrive that's were I would take it. BD is a good shop good to know, Boostpower who had their own tech section also good people. Many stores you go to now don't stock parts. If I have to order, Why am I making two trips. I can order and have it delivered directly to me. People come here for information, Whether it be free advice or a good reputable place to get their work done

LOL...

I think in a round about way he was trying to compare online shopping vs. buying at a brick and mortar store, and that we should all try and support or local business when we can.

I didn't come out that way though. So the bottle reference might be quite accurate. :p

If I banned every asshole in the marine industry we wouldn't have any marine Industry people on here.. Lol.

Ole George is harmless you just gotta look at the times posted and factor the cocktails a little and don't take it personally.

He has a wealth of boating knowledge especially with v drives etc.. And when he is in a good mood tells a good stories of racing on Sunday selling on Monday with legends like Rudy Ramos etc.. So the juice is more or less worth the squeeze.. Except when the fruit ferments.. :D. Then it can get a little rough like last night.

Brick and Mortar should step up their game.

I'll ship Amazon over big box stores anyway. Not just for price but for convenience and service.

If there is a mom and pop shop around I do like to go in there and support them if the service is on point. Prices don't have to be the cheapest as long as they aren't insane. But service has to be there.

There is a local lumber and hardware store here. Closer to my house than Home Depot or Lowes. I'll drive right past to go Home Depot. Walk in that place and nobody even says boo. Now there's another farm supply joint for gardening and lawn supply stuff we go to. Service and advice is fantastic. I'll pay more to buy stuff from there.
