Crew members on the few cruises we took this summer mentioned Americans leave good reviews but British passengers no matter if the cruise was excellent will still leave bad reviews.

How was you last cruise?

We did several. British isles, Alaska, Carribean.

The ship ran out of bacon. The last breakfast had sliver sliced hot dogs out for breakfast.

They had us wait to disembark in groups, and conducted surveys asking for opinions on things. I hollered out my dissatisfaction about the lack of breakfast pork. A half dozen fat guys all piped up in agreement. No bacon, boooooo!! LOL too funny.

Alaska Cruise on Princess. Not really our thing.

That I wished there was a faster way to get the fuck off when it gets back to the home port. Screw cruising, it's a cattle call of society I'd rather avoid. Just not for me...
We don’t check our luggage and they usually let those people off first.

I have to accept a movie industry award for my late mother next cruise.

Ill mingle with the slimy-est of Hollywood Progressives.

My mom was hard-core no excuses GOP Republican.
No free lunches. Democrats are parasites.

Wife has cautioned me to be sober and STFU when called up.

Her Swiss accent rolled off her tongue with those instructions so that is the red flag to keep my opinions to myself to keep the peace.

I should do one of those 23 and me tests. I must be British. 😁
I see a lot of customer surveys. Typically the higher end the area the more they pound people. The more blue collar, the more forgiving. The reviews at high end hotels crack me up. They get hammered for everything.

We were ready to jump once it got close enough to the dock. 🤣 Couldn't get off fast enough.

Book a suite……. You will get preferred debarkation.

Another tip……. Don’t book a Carnival cruise. It is the cattle call of Society.

You would probably like a Ritz Carlton cruise. Just saying

Let's not clump all cruise companies in one basket. There are huge differences.

FWIW……….. My neighbors recently cruised from FTL to Barcelona on the Oasis of the Seas. I was completely blown away by their suite. They had the Presidential suite on the Oasis. It was 2500sf. Super luxurious too. They are on a cruise right now…… heading from Japan to Singapore. I can’t wait to see pics of that suite.

One last thing……… If you find a cruise company that you like……… buy their stock. You get discounts and upgrades if you are a stock holder. This is one of the things I learned about cruising…….. My neighbors own a lot of Royal Caribbean stock. They got a discount on the Presidential suite because of it. I had no idea about this, until they informed me.

Cruising on a large ship requires you to exercise patience. If you can't do that I suggest you don't take a cruise otherwise you'll just be unhappy.
To answer TPC's question, we generally praise the room attendants, leave them tips and praise/tip the eatery & bar wait staff. Very rare they aren't attentive but it has happened to us once.
More than anything, we love to chat with them and learn about their lives at home, something they all seem to love sharing. If that doesn't humble you nothing will.

My one unfavorable review was about the crappy, not user friendly app they have for customers to communicate with each other onboard ship....mainly cuz I don't pay for internet.😂

We went on Royal Caribbean, we had a suite. Dragged along by family. When I saw we wanted to get off faster, I mean we disliked the experience and were done, needed out... We just dont like large ship cruises, period. Not our vibe. I went on a Carnival several years before the Royal Caribbean cruise. It was awful. I do agree, there are certainly levels.

Chartering a boat for a week with a few other couples/friends or family is more our pace. We've done it once and will for certain do it many more times. And once you've done that, going on a big ship cruise is a no go. Kinda like flyin private, sucks to go back to commercial lol.

The cigar lounge was polluted with cigarette smokers. The smoke smells different. Cig smell is not the same and the poor ventilation made it impossible to stay in there.

We went with another couple. We discovered they had Grolsch beer. The kinds with pop top lids. We cleaned out one bar after another each day. I gained literally a pound a day. My pants barely fit for the ride home. LMAO

I'm okay with cruises. We like people and start talking with anyone. We don't gamble or smoke so on sea days hang around th pool chatting and judging all the people we deem not as attractive as we are...lol. 😆😆
Getting off is a pain..customs, ugh.

Wife and I did a Princess Cruise to Cabo last year. Loved it, nothing bad to say other than eating and drinking too much. I'm hoping to do a Norwegian Cruise next year with our son as they seem to have more for kids. I've only hear negatives for Carnival as the crowd can be a bit rough and it's not as nice, but the prices are amazing.
