The 4 door rear is something that I haven't seen before. The trailer I build will just have two lower doors, the same height as the side walls, and they won't be 4' high. If I load it, it will be loaded with a tractor. If someone else uses it and has to load it by hand, its their problem. I personally don't see the need to have so much structure up high. Anything that can put that much force on the side wall 4' up, is likely going to grossly overload the trailer. Why not 2' steel with 2' extensions? I guess when you use it day in and day out with a bunch of laborers that don't give a shit, things get jacked up and its pretty hard to break steel by hand.....

You are correct on all accounts. I should mention that loading by hand also includes at times roofing and throwing materials like slab countertops off balconies into the trailers. if the demo guys are less likely to bang up the inside of a house like a stair rail or door jambs, i’m fine with it.

you are correct on the other part about being overloaded if needed, occasionally, I bug the tree removal guys and get some firewood loads for the desert🔥

You like having that e-track along the top rail?

100%, It's not cheap but I have it welded in at 18" and around the top of all out trailers. If you are ever using it for more than a dump trailer, you should consider options for tie downs. I come from the idea that you can never have too many tie down points. The e-track is crucial when I want to haul dirtbikes or materials you don't want moving around. Same when people want to borrow a trailer to move or we are using them to store equipment it makes it much better. I can leave scaffolding/equipment tied into front or sides of the trailers or even have sheets of plywood we use for pathway protection strapped to the inside and still dump it with them like that and they stay put.

Crazy reading these prices for dump fees. Where I’m at it’s $15 a ton for anything. Closer to me at an inert dump it’s $25 a ton. I have a 12’ dump trailer and my only regret is not buying a 16’er. I am going to add another one to my fleet soon and it will be the big dog!

The transfer station I go to is $90.00 minimum for trash. Yard waste is $80.00. Not cheap.

The AQMD fee at Waste management was $17 and the environmental fee was $12 last time I dumped there plus the $135 a ton. That was years ago. I am sure it's a lot more now.

The dump I go to is construction waste only now. I call it the local gold mine. It's always busy. It used to be only cash unless you had a account. I was there at 945pm and they close at 10. I asked the scale master how much did you collect today. Not including accounts $60K. They do have big overhead with all the trucks and equipment but. That was cash for the day.

There big thing now is they buy scrap metal and cardboard. That section is always busy. They have a atm machine that pays out cash for it. I asked one of the guys how much they make from scrap as it seemed low. It was his 8th time there for the day. He starts at 5 am and last load usually around 8pm. Said a good day he makes $600. Just driving neighborhoods picking up metal left by the curb. Or he has regulars that call him. One of my guys friends does this. We call him regularly on demo jobs. He always brings me a coke for my cut.

The transfer stations are always more pricey. Out here I can go to Lambs Canyon in Beaumont or El Sobrante in Corona, where it is much cheaper, but sometimes lines are long and it is also dirt roads to get in. Have picked up nails in my truck and trailer at them before. Luckily truck tires were able to be repaired.

So far (knock on wood) no nails at the transfer station and I dump there every other week.

What CL is local to you @endobear ? First one axles are rated 5200 lbs. It can't hold 10,400. But that could just be the clueless owner.
Yeah. Saw that.
The 14' $9800 one looks to be on 7k axles.
Denver to 100 or so miles in any direction

Love having one. Hate that everyone else thinks it’s there as well 🤣 jk my buddys know they can use it anytime. Just don’t fuck it up!

On another note it’s absolutely insane what they cost now. I got my 22k gvwr PJ Gooseneck for $11,500 before Covid and it’s $22k before tax now. I literally would never buy that one now since it’s just for personal use. I think it’s nuts.

Not sure if it's a issue there. Here even with 7k axles. Best to have it tagged 9,999 lbs or less. Or you need a class A.

Good to know. I may be doing a little hauling with whatever I get as a side hustle.
Knock on 🪵. I haven't heard about staties harassing dump trailers.

I'll be tugging whatever dump trailer I get with an 02 7.3 on mountain roads.. I'll be doing my best not to over load.
The 7k axle trailer is tagged over 14k gvw.
The 5200 is tagged at 10400 gvw.

In my experience, most of those dealer adds have bait and switch pricing, i wouldn't get too excited. Ive been shopping enclosed trailer and havent found a single advertised marketplace price to be accurate to the trailer they are presenting in the photos or the ad description. Maybe the dealers in CO arent fuckheads, but its highly unlikely.

Sometimes if you build from scratch the Mfg will give you 9,999 tags even if you pay for the 7k axles. This worked great for my 2016 HD but GM just keeps raising the GVWR. My 2024 HD is plus 450 pounds and by the letter of the law it would require a CDL.

Went and looked new dump trailers at 4 different lots. 4 different manufacturers.
The build quality, design and material differences between manufacturers is crazy. I really like the H&H and this Doolittle.

Dumped some debris from a water job and helped a buddy take down a patio cover today. Almost 4k pounds, thought it was going to be overloaded but not even close. $90 to dump. Quick $$$ for a couple hours of time. View attachment 1371012
With low sides almost impossible to overload with trash. You need some 4' removable sides added. With concrete and dirt there easy to overload. Around 2/3 full is 6500 lbs and legal limit but filling them to the brim they still will dump.

I have 2' removable sides on mine (never take them off) and they work perfect. When loading lighter material the sides work perfect.

Well new truck is gonna need some air bags. Pulls fine I just don’t like the sag. 2.49 tons, had to weigh out when the attendant told me I had 4.5 lol.

Edit. Trailer tongue needs to be adjusted as well

Just depends on how much you need to load. With 4' I can hold 18 yards. 2' 12 and without sides 6. I regularly fill it to the top when combining loads to minimize dump trips. Now that the other 1 has high sides again I have 36 yards capacity when needed between the 2.

I own a 7x14x2.5' high Marksman out of Santa Fe Springs. My Ocean Boat Partner used to own the company.
I use mine 3x a week however mine is a little different than all in this thread.
Mine is Honda Gas. 14K stamped 9980. Pintle mount and I run 16 ply 16" tires so when its well loaded the tires revel nothing.
Dexter Surge w/ 4 wheel brakes. Its rigged for a skid steer with ramps. Always covered with a heavy Poly-Coated tarp.

I've had it for 12 plus years. It also runs a 20K Bagby Scissor Lift. I highly recommend a scissor lift. I have personally seen a single post trailer blow through.
My current 2018 Ram handles this thing well and I have a super strong exhaust brake in this truck. A really comfortable pull and confident stop.

It makes money so I have zero dislikes. Couple broken leaf springs over the years. No big deal. I keep them and a complete spare brake assembly+drums at my shop.

I think the new company owner is selling these for 15k or more to large companies. I paid $9k many moons back. It was an HD Supply order that they gave back instead of paying for it.

HD Supply was a failed White Cap takeover.

That's a nice one! If you use it often for business, gas powered hydro is the way to go 100%.

Never once has that little Honda failed to start and is sits out in the rain, freezing mornings, and hot summer days.
Its slower than electric but no jumper cables needed. @NicPaus has it down well because construction in general does not focus that well on preventative maintenance.

225 bags of self leveling floor from a 1232 square foot condo, plus some wood planks and carpet from my neighbor. Weighed in at 6290 lbs. $266 to dump at CR&R in Perris.

Missed my diesel for sure today while towing it. The 5.0 was great but nothing like the deleted 6.7. So happy I stuck with the higher blocks in the back, really makes it stay level for the most part.

That's actually Gyp Crete. Very much proprietary and IMO total crap. Pumped in with a hose to self level just as you stated.
Its there for Noise and fire on 2nd floor and up units and we find it broken several time a month from older units settling or just moving around.

You can't buy it so White Cap has a Quick Crete Equiv. we use to put problem areas back.
