Journeyman lineman. If I had to sit in a building or deal with/manage people that don’t know how to “work”, that would be the end of me. I respect the people that do it, but I don’t have the people skills or patience.

About 10 minutes in a substation and I start to get claustrophobic. That’s gotta be a tough adjustment from the outside. @WTR&PWR
I miss the outside sometimes. Mostly just because I liked working outside LA. And that it was the Wild West. The retirement here is hard to leave. Golden handcuffs. I like building substations and i humbly feel like I’m good at it so that helps. Substation maintenance drives me nuts. No thanks. I like constructions pace.

38 years working in tech. Went from mowing lawns for my dad's gardening business to working entry-level for a mainframe computer company. For the last 10 years have been the president of a computer industry association and enterprise computing performance testing director.

I married well…… Poor woman had no idea what happened to her. Until it was too late!

All kidding aside, I am enjoying a 2nd career as a boat captain. I work when I want. I’ve really had a great time doing this. It hardly feels like work. Its the camaraderie with my mates, deckhands, and other captains that I enjoy. Lately, I have only been taking walk-on/walk-off captain jobs. This means I just show up and drive the boat! No other responsibilities, and just leave after counting my tip! Lol

I am a General Engineering Contractor performing demolition, shoring, excavation, grading and structural concrete. The majority of our work is shoring & mass excavation for multi-family subterranean parking structures and deep/complicated foundations for ultra custom single family homes.

Jack(ass) of all trades...
Mostly stuff with hammers and wrenches now. Second generation roofer...

My "job": Make sure my family has what they need, and try to get what they want. As long as it's legal, and I have the ability, I'll do it.

Owner/Broker of an RE company throughout California (300+ agents).

As of 2017, I also opened a property management company. I wish I would’ve focused on this from the start.

I was poor and didn’t go to college. I learned to hustle at a young age.

Sure do, and banjos
I forgot about banjos. Who did you work for where you used swedes and banjos? Only guys I know that used them is Higgins and my old employer Tyner Paving Company.
I don't use them much anymore in Arizona because like many, the guys don't understand the simplicity of them and think they don't work and are a gimmick. So I have do the math and use a laser because it makes a beeping noise. I've set grades in so many parking lots with just swedes and never had a water puddle.

I have a small business rebuilding/restoring niche market automotive brake calipers...mostly for early german and british applications. I also work with suppliers to develop parts that really should have been created in the aftermarket by now, and also wholesale some brake related parts to large distributors.

I run/manage an electric utility. We are small, but lazy.

Started out in system operations and moved to management about 10 years ago. I get to sit in an office and deal with linemen all day. :D
