The DCB has 2006 Rockford Fosgate amps that came with it from DCB. They work fine but the heat up and shut down often in the summer. I have used Alpine PDX digitals in my cars and other boats and want to change over to them in the DCB.

The current set up is a 800 watt 4 channel for the rounds and a 800 watt mono amp for the subs. Boat has 6 Alpine Marine 6.5" rounds and two 10" Alpine Type S subs.

I was thinking a PDX 600 mono for the subs and their PDX 500 multi channel for the rounds. Yes / No?

Thx, Walt

(1) Alpine PDX-M6
(1) Alpine PDX-F4

OR...

(1) Alpine PDX 1.600M
(1) Alpine PDX 4.100M

OR...

(1) Rockford Fosgate M750-1D
(1) Rockford Fosgate M600-4D

The new Rockford marine digital amps are great and a little less expensive than the PDX's

I just put a PDX-5M in my Teryx. What a bitchen amp. I have 2 batteries and with my old amp, I use to have to charge my gel every night camping if I wanted to listen to tunes the next day. Not with the PDX, does not even dent my battery. And boy can you crank that thing, the clarity for the mids an highs is great. Good luck!

You will be happy with the pdx 4.100 and 1.600 if you go that route. I run 6 jl 6.5's off the 4.100 and two jl w3 10's off the 1.600. Amps don't get hot and shut down when you really pound on them.

I just put these in the Howard and am very happy, I replaced the old fosgates.

I went with them as
1 - I never had problems with Pioneer top line equipment before and
2 - these are a new design that use less battery power and don't heat up.

After a weekend on them no clipping at all, no heat issues and they are in an enclosed compartment

GM-D9500F - 4 channel x 75w 4ohm, true power not inflated - includes high pass and low pass filters
GM-D8500M - mono 600w @ 2ohm inludes low pass filter

This post was started a few weeks ago, but if you haven't bought the amps yet I would recommend the Alpine PDX line. We have been using the PDX line in boats for years and have had very very few issues.
