We had kids, and that pretty much changed everything! Lol
Heard that! My wife was asked at work the other day "What was a highlight of 2018?" She put, "completed my family" That was weird to hear. These past 8 years have been nuts!

EVERYTHING.

New Career, new Family, new Baby, new House, new way of thinking, new outlook on Life, list goes on and on. All these changes used to make me nervous, but change is a good thing. :)

gray hairs,... it becomes 10x harder trying to stay fit... very random knee or shoulder pains... that's pretty much the down side

finances and career should be in cruise control, kids soccer tournaments (or any other sporting / activity) become things you look forward to, more meaningful gatherings with the friends that actually matter etc. pretty much adult type stuff... that is the plus side.

I think it all depends on when/if you have kids... I have a feeling we will catch our second wind (more energy, want to stay up later) in our 40's, because our kids will be older and more self sufficient.... right now our kids are still 7 & 10... you have to exhaust a bunch of energy to make sure they take showers, brush their teeth, not kill each other or cause major property damage lol

The biggest thing I've noticed after turning 30 is the years really start ticking by faster and faster. That might be more of a function of where you are in live instead of it being age related, not sure.

My last grandpa passed away at a young-ish age when i was 28/29, and thats when I first realized my mortality. I finally got over that, and then last year my dad got diagnosed with cancer at 61 and all that came back. But this time around I haven't let it bother me. It bothered me when I was ~28-32. But, Ive had the best years of my life since in my 30's.

One thing I have tried to be better at in my 30's is to realize that:

"Worrying is like a rocking chair, it gives you something to do but gets you nowhere."

I'll be 30 in 3 weeks. Once I moved out of Southern California 6 months ago the good life started started happening. Got my house, which was my goal. Now have security, no payments other than house, fun job (asphalt and concrete lol), and am single. Gonna try to relive my 20s in my 30s with a little more experience. Really just gonna have fun 1 day at a time.

one thing I should add... IF you are financially responsible, you start stressing a lot about things like retirement savings, college savings, estate planning and other boring crap like that in your 30's

It would be much more fun to be financially irresponsible, and it gives you less stress...which is good for your health

I turn 30 tomorrow, and for some reason I am a little freaked out. I hear people say that their 30's felt like the best dayz of their lives. I don't believe that shit!
I am done having children, factory is closed.
Bought a house, gonna be here a while.
Am still terrible with money.

How does that work??? My kids take all of my money!
Funny how that works huh? Income grows but bank account stays the same....[emoji23][emoji23]

Damn kids. Only had 3 when I turned 30. Spending $50 out to eat was expensive. Now, it is double. Oh well......wouldn't trade it.

Start putting money into a 401K, Roth IRA, or something. Those late 20's and 30's can make a huge difference when it comes to retirement.

Shit wish I was turning 30. I have the big 40 in a few months and it has me stressing out. Between that and fucked up employees that stab you in the back and leave (quit) and take your customer list and try to do it on their own cause they think they have you by the balls, but need to contact your equipment vendors to buy from.
Shit, turning 30 is good like having sex for the first time. Life was good then, it’s a stressful mother now.

With my 30's came a better understanding of finances, a more refined circle of influence and a focus on being patient. I also started getting a bunch of gray In my beard and lost a few really close friends. Stopped trying to look like I had money and started figuring out how to build some wealth. Tend to listen more and talk less...

Sounds like you're in a good spot @dirtyduner. A family is def something I look forward to.

33 now with some change in my pocket, my dads old Tacoma, an even older boat, a fly rod, a hunting rifle and a chick that can field dress a deer better than I can and has a roll cast that'll make you hard. No kids yet but headed in the right direction.

What changed in your 30's?

You realize your not a kid anymore, and you start acting like an adult! (and this is NOT a bad thing).

The reason everyone looks back at their 30's, and says it was great, is because your body can keep up with you!!!!!!!!!!!! Nothing hurts, no matter how hard you push!!!!

You have the energy to do what you want. You have the ways and means to do it. You have the knowledge of how to get things done, and you know someone to ask if you don't know how.

Your more productive in your 30's!!!! And that there is the bottom line. Work like a dog while you can, so you can enjoy the fruits of your labor later.

I'll be 62 this weekend, and I'd LOVE to have the energy I did back then. :)

Got to look at as more then 2/3 s of the way to not working and doing whatever the F you want. I figure when I’m ready to retire the week before. Hopefully at least a week after I’ll get hit by a Mack truck or something. But my wife will live well. [emoji23] lol

Turned 38 back in March

During my 30's...
  • Bought 5 boats, sold 5, still have 4.
  • Finally got a Golf Cart at the lake.
  • Worked at the same company for 7.5 years, got laid off and started down the self-employment track.
  • Watched the Hair on my head thin & receded, the sprout-up on back and shoulders.
  • Started getting up once during the night to pee.
  • Saw a friends find the love's of their lives, get married, move away, have kids, get divorced, then repeat.
  • Realized that I can no longer drink until 3am, go to bed for a few hours, and function the next day.
  • Dating completely changed, I believe mainly due to Apps like Tinder, Bumble, & Hinge.
Just to name a few!

It was a little different for me not having any kids. At 29 and 364 days I still felt like a kid. I was dreading 30 bad because I felt like oh shit I'm going to be an adult now. I have never had a bigger issue with a birthday than 30 and I'm staring down the barrel at 50 in a couple months. With all that said, I didn't even really start living until 30. The nice thing about 30-45 is you start to make a little money, you still have your health and physical strength, you start to settle into life and get your priorities straight and your pecker still gets rock fucking hard.:D

... had a small ranch/cabin in La Tuna Cyn ...went through a succession of old classic cars ...bought an old wooden in the water yacht to liveaboard and restore... had an Appaloosa named Suzi... I think I got away with this non working lifestyle till I was about 38 ...in other words not one day of 30’s employment till I was about 38...
...Did not participate in the disco lifestyle...as it totally sucked...

I didn't start slowing down till about 38. Really felt it, was regularly doing all nighters in the garage before trips working on stuff. After 38 was having to take more days off before trips to do the same things as I couldn't physically hang working that long in the garage. Would have trouble getting out of bed the next day I was so sore. Almost seemed like it happened over night since I do the same trips every year and usually have the same type of work needed to be done before.

I would think everyone's 30's may differ a bit. I was married and had kids...3 by 33. Lost both my parents, and mother in law by 36. Financially got my teeth kicked in. Started over, but still had my wife and kids, so it was ok. I judge my physical shape by weather or not I can bench my body weight...so far so good. I started to hurt like hell, but that was from my 20s, just aggrevated by work in my 30s. 42 now.

It's just a number. Nobody knows their expiration date. Live like you want and hope you'll get to use your retirement. Life is for living!

I was single again when I turned 30. The pool of women was 18 - 45....I'd have a new girlfriend every couple of days, that was better than the last one. Prettier, sexier, more sex crazed. I had money, experience, a place of my own (no roommates), a boat, snowmobile, sports car, motorcyle...the ultimate bachelor pad/den of iniquity.

The BEST time of my life !!!

When I turned 40 I settled down got married again and now have two great kids who are 13 & 11. I was able to work my way up the corporate ladder during my 30's and got my Ph.D and an MBA in addition to my Edison Program (EEDP) credentials from my 20's and had settled in as an executive at 39.

30 gave me a little nudge feeling different for a while , we had our son when I was 26. I will be 63 in August and I can say I’ve lived a little. But the greatest is the times I spend with my grandsons 11 and 9.

That spurred some thoughts right there. Seems to be between life and time, some things start to change with friends...some good, some bad.

What is this club you speak of?

40 started needing reading glasses. 1.5’s did wonders.
15 years later, graduated to 2.0’s.

Oh, and the too much drinking/ hangovers take a bigger toll on you for sure.

Adulthood sucks! Your 20's is a magical time, but you should know it wouldn’t last. At 30 years of age it's time to get your shit together if you want to retire at 55 or 60 and live a free life, that should be something your are looking at. At 30 figuring out what matters, and what you should focus your energy on and what you should let go. We know that pushing against the boundaries of the party life will only harm us not help us.
Your time and energy are limited as no one gets out of this world alive, It's time to get your shit together at 30.
