1965 Mustang.
Ran a stop sign. Saw the cop, clearly watching the intersection, half way across the intersection. Tried to pull into a driveway and hide but he got me. When he asked why I pulled into the driveway I told him I was turning around to turn myself in. He laughed while writting the ticket.

1963 Chevrolet Impala 4-door, my parent's car. 75mph in a 65mph zone on northbound Long Beach Freeway near the Washington exit. Lost my license for 2 weeks. My mom saved my life because my dad wanted to kill me. I was supposed to be in church but decided to go for a cruise.

I didn't get my own car until 1968; it was a VW bug. I was 18 years old and it cost $2000.

‘68 Camaro.

I was 19 or 20 at the time. Sheriff’s deputies saw smoke rolling out the window, and didn’t think it was cigarettes.

Late 70’s VW rabbit. I was 14, dad worked graveyard, mom went to sleep and a buddy and i went for a joyride. Not sure what the hell i was thinking. I was 14 so i really couldn’t reach pedals. Made it a couple miles to the Skateway off central. Passed a cop, he flipped a U turn immediately and the night was over. Had to stay in a cell until the officer finished his shift because my mom didn’t have a car. Thought my dad was going to light me up. He walked in, said “nice parking job, we’ll talk about this when i wake up”. 😳

Not the car, same color.

‘72 El Camino when I was 16…leaving my GFs house one night…made a left onto the main blvd and saw 2 sets of headlights coming up the hill behind me, laid into it and smoked the tires (tire lol) for about 1/4 mile….well…one of those sets of headlights was a cop, the other one was my parents.

23109(c) exhibition of speed. I walked to school for the next month.

My mom's new 69 Oldsmobile Cutlass. I was16 yrs old, Saturday night and I was going down the main drag in our town looking sideways to see who was in the Burger King parking lot. Unfortunate timing for me, the second I looked away the car in front of decided to turn left and hit their brakes and I rear-ended it. Mom and dad were at the lake for a week, I called them and after the chewing out they told me to take the car to the local dealer. New bumper, hood and grill along with the misc parts and labor came to $663. They fixed the car in 4 days and my parents never saw the damage. The ticket was about $35 and I to pay the deductible. Good times as a teenager in the 70's.

I was17 when I graduated from high school a week later my parents had to go to Ohio for training on a new machine for 3 months. “I’m not going I’ll stay and take care of the house”. What were they thinking? We had a 3 month pool party! Being a brilliant 17 year old I decided to uncork the headers on my 69 roadrunner and go for a cruise down Magnolia ave. You guessed it I got a ticket and was told to bring a parent or guardian to court with me.How was I going to do that my dad was in Ohio.I talked my boss into being my dad for a day, it worked. A few months later I stopped at the stop sign and looked around, nobody around so I did the 1/4 mile drag 0 to 110 as fast as I could. My buddy and a were laughing pretty good till he says the cops behind didn’t think it was funny. Sure as shit I looked in the rear view mirror and there they were. When he stopped his bike his gun was 2 feet from my head. That’s when the laughing stopped. They thought we were trying to outrun them but I never saw them sitting right there in the gas station, exhibition of speed. Expensive ticket so I figured if I wanted to go fast I would have to go to the water. After all I could go fast and it would be less expensive 😂😂😂😂. I was so smart when I was 17!!!!

In my 88 foxbox. I don't remember the first time I was pulled over as it was not a memorable one, but a couple noteworthy ones. I had just finished a Santiago/Trabuco Canyon run omw from YL to RSM to see a friend one weekend and was crossing the bridge from RSM up into the Melinda Heights area when I got lit up. It was probably close to midnight and I was the only car. I flashed my hazards to acknoledge him but waited til the first neighborhood pull off after the bridge to pull over (probably a good 1/4 mile or more) when the OC sheriff approached the car, he thanked me for finding a safe place to pull over and after the regular information exchange we shot the shit talking about cars for 15 or 20 minutes and then he told me to be safe and have a good night. come to think of it, he never did say why he pulled me over. I also didn't ask lol. I honestly didn't mind that at all.

The other most memorable time was an Officer Martheras of Placentia PD. He was a total dick and I was happy to hear he was fired a short time after my interactions with him. It wasn't directly related to our incident but I'm sure I wasn't to only person to have issues with him either. It was the 3rd time I had been pulled over in 10 days for absolute chicken shit (all different officers but same department). Stuff like tires chirping over crosswalk paint, or rolling through a stopsign that I DID come to a complete stop on. This particular one was for touching the yellow lines while entering a left turn lane. Long story short, he was a smug asshole throughout our entire interactions while I was nothing but respectful with yes sirs and no sirs. after 20 minutes in his cruiser (probably looking for a charge he could stick me with) he came back to my car and broke the dew wipe on my driver's door when he slammed his clip board down for me to sign the ticket for "an illegal turning manuever" and when he left, he proceeded to do a tire screeching uturn across double yellows right at the entrance of an elementary school zone. I got pictures of his tire marks and went to go see the departments watch commander a little while later. I lodged a formal complaint against Martheras and off the record, also accused the department as a whole of harassing me. I was never pulled over by Placentia PD again and the ticket was thrown out but I was still pissed for a long time over all of it.

fwiw I have come across far more great cops than bad. The bad experiences just stick with you longer than the good ones a lot of the times. My grandfather was a career police officer in Detroit after getting out of the Navy and one of my best childhood friends is one today.

Lol.. 90's something Honda accord while driving through South Dakota with a learning permit. They got me going 5 over and the choice was pay the fine on the side of the road or return for a court date. I think I still owe me dad 20 bucks for that speeding ticket.😂

16 with my moms new at the time 3 series convertible. I was on a freeway that passed an intersection and a ambulance going the other hit his lights and siren just as he passed me going through the intersection. Cop didn't see the ambulance and pulled me over because he thought I had a siren. He was a moron. Took a minute for him to verify the ambulance call. Let me go politely.

They were some strict LEOs around there apparently! 20+ years ago some of us heard about some heavy hitters in a place called Firebaugh. Trailered a ride up there on a Saturday night...can't even remember who had a contact up near Fresno, but got the place and heads up. Our crap stayed on the trailer! They weren't messing around...them farmboys had some hardware that would decimate anything south of the Grapevine:eek:
I race with a lot of those farmers in the Bakersfield/Buttonwillow area. They have money & know their craft.

My red 67 Camaro passing a dude in a 5. Slow.

He wanted to make it hard to pass till my secondaries kicked in then I'm doing 35 mph over.

Got the ticket for 15 over. In the big picture he did me a favor.

72 Nova, my first car, we headed to meet some girls at a bar. Head down the freeway with my 2 buddies, I’m running close to a hundred. I noticed the familiar red and blue about a mile back, my buddies are snickering. They told me he been chasing you since we hit the highway. I thought I was totally screwed, get to the exit and yep a road block! Had to been 5 cars and several troopers, I had just killed a half a bottle of Gin. Cop comes up, to my window and says I got your license for a year. He asked me to get out of the car and follow him. I’m staggering using car fenders to keep me from tripping. Get in the car, trooper ask where I headed and I explained to a bar to meet some girls. He asked me what time does the bar close and I told him 3 am. He said when you get done there meet me at the trooper barracks. They let me drive away with no citation, I could have totally skipped out. But I showed up like I said would, he cited me with speed in excess of 100 mph and a bald tire. The court appearance wasn’t pretty, I showed up a couple weeks later before the judge and pleaded guilty. I had no money to pay the fine, he gave me 30 minutes to get bail Or off to county jail. The dreaded part of this, I had to call my pops at 9 pm to post bail and he wasn’t pleased . When I called my mom answered and she had to convince him to bail me out, he said jail would be good for him. Gotta love my pops, but he wasn’t pleased with me at all!😎

Wasn't actually "pulled over". My girlfriend and I were parked off Mulholland in a 69 VW. The back seat was folded down and well.......you know. A police officer snuck up on us, tapped on the window and were busted. Nice cop told us to get dressed and head home.

1976 Chrysler Cordova with rich Corinthian leather... my sister was waving her hands out of the sun roof ... I still say that's why the bastard pulled me over and to to this day I still will not drive down Foster between Bellflower and Woodruff. I should have just took that ticket and been happy as we never got caught in my 65' El Camino that had a Ram Air 1V Pontiac out of a 69 GTO in it. I changed the rear tires about once a month, was working at Mark C Bloom and my manager let me have the good take offs that would come in :)

69 Plymouth roadrunner 440. I think cops were cooler about things back then🤣. Walked up to the window looked at the blue bottle between the seats, half the tread of the tires sprayed up the rear quarter panel and all he says is “well what does it do?” We laughed and said “Not hook up as you can tell” he laughed looked it over spent 40 minutes talking about his malibu SS and we went on our way.
Yep thats right we talked to the cop👍🏻🤣

Here in Bakersfield
Hit me that that pic(1980) is where the 2nd Bakersfield DMV is today!

We had our local 1/4 mile(Pacheco Rd) out in the sticks, BPD knew it, respected the fact we took it out of the city, all was cool...Oil town grew into it and it became off-limits.

I ran that car everywhere, Pismo Dunes to the end(Devils Slide), top of Mt Breckenridge in snow with a Jeep behind me...freaking out...Lake Ming(Outlaw Hill)the easy way...thrashed this thing...frame sunk and doors wouldn't close I ran it so hard! It was a beast.

Parted it out for more than I could sell it for....but still have the badges on my wall!

‘78 F-150 on 38s, however before I got my license I was pulled over with my buddy in a Jeep that him and I got running. He bought it off my stepmom. It was a real shit box and we kinda got pulled over as a team on that one. My dad had to come down the street from his house to keep the cops from hauling us off. It was almost a real shitshow.
