It's coming along nice. You'll be cruisin, floatin n drinkin soon.

If you look close, you'll see the material has a plastic coating on it.

It took some practice to find the right pressure and speed so the nibler wouldn't break through the plastic.

Once cut to size, I just Carefully slid the cut material into the existing channel on the fence. Louie was shocked I got it done too! Lol

Lots of spray silicone lube and patience. Now I just have to cut the flat stock for the ends, and decide weather to attach it with screws or rivits. I'm gonna let Louie make that decision.

Louie is Almost done with all the existing upholstery. But he wants to create a rear facing lounge seat, that will hide the biggest fuel tank we can fit in there. The 2 smoke goes through some fuel!!!

Remember, a huge portion in building a vessel is weight and balance.

See if you can borrowed some scales, and level the boat, and see what each corner weights. It will help you figure out where to put that big fuel tank. You might want to install 3 small ones, and use them to adjust ballast under certain conditions.

I bet a few race car owners have a set digital scales.

Maybe mess with a different motor mount, to get the right offset, etc….

Scales help a lot in decision making.

You don’t want it to nose dive when you air it out over one of those wave machines.

I see the plastic now, makes sense..I was wondering how you managed to do all that work and apparently not put 1 scratch in those panels. Really nice work there chief. You keep that up you just might get hired yet.

So today started out just grand...

I picked up all the 1" flat stock I needed at Patton's yesterday, so I could get to work early today. Made my first cut lined it up on the end, and FUCK!!! They gave me 3/4 instead of 1"!!!

Went to Patton's, showed em the receipt, and they didn't bitch about the one stick of three that I cut. They gave me my 1" and said sorry. Pretty stand up deal on their part.

So after I cut my first batch of end pieces, Louie showed my the coolest tool I've ever seen!!!

I dunno what it's called. I'll guess @Racey knows what it is?

It auto centers the piece and has different size drill guides. You can see though the sides to line up your marks, and even by hand, drills a perfectly centered hole.

Louie says he uses it for drilling holes in Bimini poles. Flat or round stick, it just works!

So now with my holes drilled, I riveted the trim pieces in place.

Finally. One fence is fully completed.

I'm stoked and happy how it came out!

Long day, but worth it.

So life has Really got in the way for both Louie and myself. We haven't touched this thing for awhile!

Past few days I got the re-wire process started. And now I'm off to Oxnard, to work on my BIL's boat this weekend.

Still have a long way to go...

Your build is going nice. Everything starts out as a: “this should take about a month” and 6 months later you’re still doing work.

I like the fact that the side sheet materials are available. That’s cool. Because I’ve looked around at toons and the first thing I notice is the sheeting looks like crap….

Looking good! I redid my barge a couple of years ago and I understand rabbit holes that become canyons. Ha!. I decided no wood on this go round. Bought a welder, reskinned pontoons, made a closet out of sheet metal, added framing to support new decking I wanted to use. Added floatation, used stupid expensive paint etc etc. Worth it though! My pics are all out of order but you get the idea. Keep after it!
