What’s the Avi really like?

Heading to a soccer tournament in Bullhead this weekend and staying at the Avi. I’ve never been there. Good, bad, indifferent? Got a killer group rate and obviously want the kid to be with her teammates. Sorry, no time for boating with 2 games each day.

Last time I went, I stayed for free. That it because the time before that, they had a severe insect infestation that they didn’t really forewarn guests about. I should note that I got more free rooms after my last stay.

Overall, it was shitty due to the infestation. However, I think I made about $700 in about 2 hours on the craps table so that semi made it worth it.

I will say it has been about 4 years since I’ve been so I can’t give any real current experience.

I've never stayed there, but i've been a few times when at the river. Sunday Brunch is good. Casino is your typical casino, wreaks of smoke. Right now the entire beach area is tore up and under construction, looks like they are re-doing the entire water front area of the resort. Pool still open

The comment about the smoke is right on, you walk out of there smelling like an ash try. The casino is pretty cool, I hit $1,000 on the $1.00 Wheel of Fortune machine a few months ago. There is a movie theater in it which will be good for the kids.

It’s all around a decent family establishment, smells like any other casino tho but has decent food etc. the quality of the rooms idk because i live just a couple miles away so never found the need.

Oh yeah. We see them every year.

Infestation had me thinking bed bugs or fleas or something.

They used to have Friday all u can eat seafood buffet. And Sundays adult only party w/Dj by the pool. Which work good if you had kids....cuz you can have them hang out in their kids daycare fun room dealio. But that was during Summer. Imo it was always cool if you brought the party to Avi....cuz nightlife was kinda boring.

I have stayed there a few times over the years , I never had any issues. It is what it is.

This is correct. The issue I had was, they were all in the rooms. Dead, but in there. They were all on the floor, under the bed, desk etc (none in the bed).

We use to go there all the time when our kids were young. Before dark we'd boat upstream and head to one of our favorite beaches. We'd start a fire on the beach, have s'mores for the kids and cocktails for the adults. We'd top off the evening with our fireworks show that was an added treat for everyone. We'd float back towards Avi to extend our adventure and reminisce about our priceless evening...

We stayed there a long time ago and the rooms were clean and nice but the food sucked, the buffet food was generic and even breakfast was like eating at Denny’s no quality and no flavor.....

That may have changed up after all it’s been 8 or 10 years, we do drive up and buy fire works and they are the Bomb!

Mosquitoes? I stayed there one time and got bit at least 50 times buy them.

It’s nicer than the BlueWater. There’s actually more restaurants, movie theaters and bars then the Bluewater. The rooms are just ok. It’s not a Motel 6, it’s nicer than that.

I spent the night just last Tuesday at the Avi. A little hint, before you register, get a Player's Club card in the casino, and they will give you a 10% discount for a room. Once we checked in (and not before) we were given a paper explaining that the water will be shut off from midnight until 5 AM. They also added porta potties next to the gas station for the elderly who needed bathroom facilities (as if an old blue hair is gunna walk 200 yards across the parking lot to piddle!). The water being shut off was no big deal, because we would be asleep.

Unfortunately, the water was off until 6am, and we had no hot water until 8am. I went for my free cup of coffee at the coffee bar at 6am, but they said due to the water pressure, they had no coffee, but the adjoining restaurant had coffee available for $7.50 for two cups.

All in all, it wasn't bad, but we were hacking for 2 days getting the smoke out of our lungs.

The Avi is my absolute go to when going to Laughlin. It's beyond family friendly with all the amenities they offer. They have a food court, arcade, movie theater, indoor play place, the huge pool, the cove.....you don't even need to try to keep the kids entertained. The mosquitos are a problem depending on the season but I've also been bit to shit at blue water so there's that.

I have stayed at the AVI many times over the years.
The Classic Boat Beach Bash was always held there and it was great.
Some great memories from some of the attendees.
I have had a couple of meal issues over the years but nothing that would make me want to slit my wrist. LOL
They always made it right for me.
Milkster, I think I will stay another week and weekend at Hallett Dave Headquarters and go over to the Billy B deal.
I am in Mohave Valley AZ maybe a mile or so from Jack Smith Park in Needles.
I am maybe 11 miles south of the AVI.

The grass hoppers were here a few years ago,my brother lives up on the parkway and his property was covered with them.I live a block from the river and no they are not by the water other then that one year.The only insect problem is the gaddisfly near and at the river in the summer.They increased when game and fish reduced the trout stock of the river a few years ago.According to the county the grass hopper issue is something that happens every few decades.Have had a few houses here since 2000 and that was the only time I had seen them.As far as Smoking and casino's, that is the way it's alway's been and Nevada.

We love AVI. It’s usually cheap, decent sized rooms, good view, decent boat parking. My kids love it. I like that you never have to leave for anything really.

Yelp reviews talked of bed bugs.
That’s the worst kind.

In summer the lower floors have nighttime mosquitos deluxe outside the sliding glass doors from our experiences.

We always like the Avi.
Buffet is a crapshoot and as of our last stay they got rid of the kid employees with shit attitudes.
