The coldest I’ve ever been was deer hunting in the southeast in Dec/Jan.
A wet cold that you have a hard time shaking off.
There’s exceptions to every rule. One of the coldest weeks I’ve ever spent was in the summer in Alaska

What is in Idaho? Hmmm... Let's start with everything an outdoor enthusiast could ever want! And world class at that! We moved to Spokane in 09 and have not regretted it one bit. Sure, summer weather for boating is short but that gives you time for all the other stuff like dirt bikes, fishing, hunting, shooting, hiking, camping, mountain bikes, snow skiing etc. We just hosted our third annual poker run called Legend Of The Monarchs. We had everything from Skaters to Robalo fishing boats entered. The weather was perfect, water was warm (for us), great people and good times! Lake Pend Orreille in Sandpoint is something out of a Norman Rockwell painting. Absolutely beautiful with sheer 1000' forest green cliffs on the east side called The Monarchs which is how we came up with the name. We did a photo shoot here 2 years ago with Mercury Racing. Everyone was almost speechless with the beauty of the area. Truthfully though, there are many wonderful lakes and rivers in Idaho. Ill post some photos when I get a chance

Only the good one's only the smart one's and only the realists who admit Newscum will not stop until he has destroyed this state from the inside out.
Hilarious caption thought!!😂😁🤣
Hmmm… I’m still in California. 🤔

But, I totally agree with what you’re saying. I’ve had a lot of family and friends that have made the exodus.
On the flip side, I feel bad for the natives of the “life raft” states that have this HUGE influx of people and towns being built that lived there for the way it used to be. Kind of like the Californians that fled there.

My brother in law is from there, grew up in Ketchum. Now on 1,000 acres in Murtaugh since 1984

He says you can tell the Californians, the first thing they do is put up a fence, and not for livestock. haha

You’re too late the the Idaho party.
in the last 5 years the house prices have doubled because of the influx of California money.
Huge farms are selling off to developers who are building 2 story houses on 8000 square foot lots.
if you’re set on going there, move to somewhere like Montana or Wyoming for a year first and don’t tell anyone your from CA.

They stick out like sore thumbs lol
"They" don't stick out like sore thumbs because "I" spent a few weeks up there in and around Kalispell looking for my retirement property and I did not feel prejudged by one single person I interacted with. Some folks asked me my backstory and some asked me about my expectations of Montana but every one of them knew I was from Cali and they all understood why I choose to spend the rest of my days somewhere I will fit in and morally agree with. There are hundreds of thousands of great people that still live here and my opinion of this state has absolutely nothing to do with any of the upstanding citizens who choose or have to stay for whatever their personal reasons are.
I simply will not be a part of nor force my daughters to be subjected to the "behind the scenes" rhetoric in our schools, the propaganda on the streets and certainly the misdirected outlandish political agenda that is forced down all of our throats. I don't feel as American living in California anymore, I feel forced to conform which I will not tolerate. It is not OK to have homeless encampments and relentless looting, vandalism and crime being minimalized. It is not OK to have the biggest hypocrite (besides the VP) in the Governor's Office who has decimated small business and forced the middle class blue collar workers to near bankruptcy while their tax dollars pay the highest taxes in the Nation to fund a "Reparations Panel" which was an obvious hoax for votes. I live and work in a region of California which is second to only Mono County for the highest gas prices.......IN THE NATION.
Born and raised in San Bernardino County and I believe I am 6th generation from there but it's time to go.
I'm tired of being "The sore thumb" by living here. ;)

I was just curious, I have had a few neighbors and friends move there. Three of them were cops ? 🤔
I dunno what's in Idaho, but my new neighbor is a retired LAFD. He goes to the bar and likes to leave his dog outside that yaps literally every second of every minute, until he brings it inside. After 3 months of six hours of straight yapping every day, I said fuck this and complained. He lied through his teeth and blamed it on the neighbors dog. Unfknblvbl. I have hours of video you lying sack of shit. He turns around and calls the cops on my box trailer that was parked in front of my house for 4 days. Called City code enforcement for the catio I built for my squirrel, and fire dept for a dead branch on a tree that he said was a fire hazzard. I have never met a more arrogant lying piece of shit in my life. Go back to LA you worthless fuck where Karens are welcome.

I have had friends and a bunch of clients make the move and a ton love it.

Most of the men that want to move to Idaho are pretty hard core gun/hunting/camping enthusiasts. Like mentioned previously diversity isn't high on the priority list.

One thing I will say is the wife better be pretty hard core and understand what she is moving to as opposed to so cal. Of all the states I have clients escape to Idaho sends the most back. Guys are like pigs in shit and the wifes absolutely hate it and force the move back. (weather,shopping,etc...)

My grandparents moved to Idaho in the 20’s. My dad was born there and my mom grew up in Sandpoint. They all moved to So Cal. Mom and dad met in So Cal and that is where I was born. In the 70’s I moved and lived in Hayden Lake, Idaho. Moved back to So Cal for better work opportunities. When my grandmother died gramps moved back to Idaho, where he eventually passed. My daughter moved up here 3 years ago, we moved up a year ago. Kind of a “homecoming” for me.

I would say there are a few that blame EVEYTHING on Californian’s migrating here. To a degree, there is some validity to their feelings. They are in the minority though. I can say that I have not heard of one Idaho native complaining of the money they made off of those coming into the state. I would say 80% of the people we have met up here were from California at some point in time. All here for the same reason, they could not support California politics any longer and were looking for a better quality of life.

So far we are very happy here. 7 acres with a ranch style home. The winters are cold, make no mistake about it! It’s not so much the snow as we lived In Lake Arrowhead for 37 years. Much easier to deal with it here as the roads are mostly flat and straight in the area we are in. Being retired we don’t have to go out in it.

Sadly Idaho has changed drastically over the past couple of years. Like many other areas that have recently become popular amongst folks seeking refuge from states like California, Oregon, Washington, etc., Idaho is bursting at the seems with fresh new faces that brought their bad habits with them. Yes, most are seeking red state ideologies, but don't migrate and assimilate to the local culture that made their new state desirable in the first place. They tend to bring rude attitudes, bad driving habits and entitlement with them. Their "I'm better than you" mentality and rudeness is changing the culture quickly. Also states like Idaho lack the infrastructure for the extreme growth. Local politicians are on the take from developers and allow massive residential growth, but don't hold said developers accountable for needed infrastructure like roads, parks and schools. Traffic is now a thing, schools are overflowing and parks for sports are few and far between. Developers are getting away with murder by lining the politicians pockets and tax payers are being left to pay the bills for much needed infrastructure. Cold winter weather is the least of Idahos worries at this point. I can go on and on, but I'll leave you with that.

Jezzzz...

You talk like everywhere in Idaho is exactly the same! 🤣

It's a lot like CA, it's a HUGE fucking state! All around Bosie IS exactly like what you said though. Meridian is just like Orange County. 👎

But there are Lots and lots and LOTS of area up there that is completely rural, and is gonna stay that way for decades to come. 👍🏼

If you don't need Costco or Home Depot close by, there is some Beautiful country up there to settle.

Like someone else said...

We made a stop in Reno for 8 years before Montana. It's nice to tell people we are from Reno instead of CA.
Not soon enough, unfortunately the homelife has been shaken-up quite a bit so with having a 12 and 14 year old obviously in still in school I may be anchored to California for a bit longer.
Hard to project how it's all gonna play out, my plan to keep things together long enough to get out of the state as a family and figure things out from there has been ratified by the other party.
Anyhow, I am able to retire anytime after October so I was planning to escape from Cali around May/June after some more in-depth travelling and property/home shopping.
On a positive note, now I can get the barn-dominium on some acreage with a nice big shop next to it!!

All my moms side of Family moved to Boise from torrance early 80's, uncle bought a 2 acre pad with a huge pound right next to river just on edge on Boise, i remember my first trip we were dropping ducks on the pound and driving my aunts continental around rolling down electric windows and dropping ducks right out the window cruising around town with shotgun. Last trip there we were driving around with my sister, she has been a bus driver there 26 years, I asked her were was our aunts place, she said right here, its all condo's, parking structures etc etc. Super expensive now, even Kuna where my sister lives, looks just like eastvale in corona but cold.

I am assuming you live in Idaho or have at least spent a great deal of time there recently? One would think you speak from personal experience by the way you describe how the populous feels. As far as the politicians having contractors and developers in their pockets and vise-versa, well, show me a State that doesn't have that going on.
Californians have been footing the bill for our own infrastructure for decades, and apparently we haven't been paying enough as evidence by the mass amounts of homeless we see everyday. I don't recall seeing a fraction of the homeless in Idaho or Montana so I guess the tax dollars are actually doing some good in those states?

I'm not frustrated with you at all, I get a little amped when I discuss these things out of disgust for what this state has become, it breaks my heart. Thanks for the tip as far as the barstool races, I will hopefully be able to check it out soon!!

Yes, I live in Idaho and am witnessing a massive change in the Treasure Valley. Growth is out of control and infrastructure is lacking as compared to the massive increase in population. I never said that this is something special to just this area, as many areas around the country are going through and have gone through this type of growth. I'm not sure what your homeless remark has to do with any of this and is really an entirely different conversion all together. Inmates were discussing Idaho and I simply added my two cents for whatever it's worth. Simply put, things are changing here rapidly and many think not for the better, myself included. That's all.

How bad is Caldwell getting? Is it anything like Meridian?

Thanks for the intel, I am glad to know you are indeed a resident of Idaho. Some inmates just throw personal opinions out there but your opinion obviously carries more weight. I am definitely on the same page when it comes to getting away from the overpopulated areas of this Nation and as comforting as it is to know there are so many of "us" out there seeking the same refuge, I can see how that pushes-up on those that have hunkered down a while ago for the same reasons. I wouldn't be too excited to see the influx either, especially those you that say bring their attitudes with them!! 😒
