What could you see there that made you get it looked at to begin with?

On April 4th went to urgent care for bronchitis. The dr said What’s this on your neck? A rough little purple patch I didn’t even know was there. I said Jesus doc! I only came here for antibiotics and your saying I might have cancer?😀 well he was right. Went to the hospitals dermatologist and came back basal cell. So good thing I had bronchitis!
The part that shocked the shit out of me was the patch was maybe slightly bigger than a nickel and now a Herman Munster scar.

Damn, sorry you're going through that, but cool that it was caught early on.

Almost exactly the same upbringing in HB and 2yrs younger, @45 Melanoma on the chest (3 surgeries later to remove it), Basel Cell between the eye/ear side burn, 2-3 on the back area and now going in next week for surgery on the shoulder. It will never end until it's night-night then the crematorium.

For all you younger fellas Sunscreen up and also don't pass up on those ear's and neck areas.

I've had dozens of basal cell's cut out of me over the past 20 years. The worst was on top of my scalp a few years ago with the MOHS procedure...it was brutal to say the least...32 staples.

A couple of others.

Had this happen to me in my early 20’s. I had a small purple spot on my neck, after a really bad sun burn it grew a little so I got it checked out by a dermatologist.

My dermatologist did a biopsy and sent it to oncology. The oncology report came back inconclusive. The spot that got biopsied didn’t heal so my dermatologist recommended removing it.

After getting a second opinion I agreed to have the growth removed. It was supposed to be a simple 1 hour procedure but when my dermatologist started cutting, it went really deep. I ended up under the knife for close to 4 hours and it took 50 stitches to close up. They had to stitch the muscle inside of me and my neck outside. It took years before I had full movement in my neck without it feeling like I was stretching a rubber band inside of me.

My dermatologist sent what he cut out into oncology. It came conclusive that time, it was cancer. My dermatologist told me it was really close to a lymph node and if I had waited much longer it would have been a really bad situation.

Lucky. That’s what they told me. Also they said I could do radiation. I wish I went that route instead of the giant cut. I’m not sure if radiation is used for basal cell or another type. I am going to ask if that was an option even though it’s too late. He mentioned radiation before the biopsy so maybe it’s only an option for a different kind of cancer? I know he said it’s 13 rounds. Maybe Blue Cross too cheap to pay???
