Yes with the right speed(so it dont melt) it should. My buddy does aluminum with his also.

Well few weeks ago i knew zero about cnc, watched some you tube videos and Shapeoko has instruction videos, as with anything the price is all over the place, this one was under $4k but it can also do aluminum and made in USA,
