Solution to the welfare problem (and a ton of other public service programs)?

Make contributions to these programs voluntary. When one files their taxes each year, they check a box on the return that says "Yes, I'd like to donate to the welfare program" and they fill in the amount, which then gets added to their total tax liability.

That way those who want to support the program get to do so and those of us who don't want to aren't forced to.

We also combine that with modifying the program such that a recipient is eligible for welfare only for 6 months once every 3 years (or some variation of time frames).

Seems simple enough to me...

I usually see WIC purchases for the approved items in one transaction, then a second transaction for all the snacks, sodas, candy, etc. Then a third transaction where the mom will buy other non-WIC items. All in the (non) express-checkout. These grocery stores don't have the balls to tell people over the item limit to use a regular lane. I like prices at Wal-Mart for some items, but damn, I dislike the place.

I'm in Sanger. We shop at WinCo. Good prices, selection, and the workers are typically very friendly/helpful.

For a while. The problem with the current system is there is basically zero incentive for people to get off of it. That needs to change. And wouldn't you feel better about contributing to a more well managed system voluntarily instead of being forced to contribute to a broken system? I can't stand that. The current system is wide open to people to abuse it, which is bullshit. The people you posted need to be shot.

The reality is that if you make contributions voluntary, contributions would be very low and the program would mostly crash and burn. Would kind of tell the story about what the majority wants though. Let people vote with their wallets and then you have a true democracy.

If contributions become voluntary then the system will be forced to get lean. Only those who TRULY need it will still be able to qualify.





I have a 3rd cousin who lives somewhere in Michigan. Where exactly these days, I couldn't tell you. Last I spoke to or heard of her (about 15 years ago) she had 7 kids, pregnant with the 8th and between minimum wage jobs. Her boyfriend (4th baby daddy) worked minimum wage pumping gas at a no-name gas station. All 9 of them lived with her ex husband whose was the father of 5 and 6. He had a fair paying job repairing computers and supported them in addition to her being on welfare. People I'm related to take advantage of those around them and the system.

The only way to fix this system is to break it.

We drive up a long driveway get to the house, (at least 3500sqft) there are 2 cars in the driveway a Jaguar and a BMW, those are the POS cars the Mercedes and Ferrari are in the open garage. I kind of like our welfare system here. Its a monthly check, every second Wed of the month. No food stamps. The amount is so low, they need food banks for groceries. Our food banks make you prove need. A min wage job, even with a couple of kids pays more. Only the true lazy stay on welfare here. We don't have welfare for those with a job. To get welfare you also must prove you've looked for work. Our liberals wanted to make it a work for welfare system, clean city parks, etc. But that got dropped.

Saw the Costco thing first hand when the ebt cards where down for the weekend.

There are people out there whose brains are just wired to get anything free by any means. I could fix the welfare problem in 6 months. No welfare period. Wage supplement. I would be willing to shell out wage supplement to those working jobs that do not pay enough to support yourself independently. To receive this wage supplement the person must work full time along with filing yearly taxes. Let's say McDonalds pays $9.00 an hour, supplement extra $3.00. This makes a person "marketable" to progress in making more money down the road not requiring the supplement. There is really no hope for any welfare recipient who stays home for years to get a good paying job, you cannot be out of the workforce for too many years.

I just got addicted to a reality English TV show called "Can't Pay, We Take It Away." Literally, the British nanny socialism state has created a system where there are more people on "Benefits," welfare as we call it here, than people that pay their bills themselves.

This show has really opened my eyes as this is the full on socialism the democrats are trying to get over here. It's such an amazing show as most of the subjects that are getting kicked out of their home or have outstanding debts which the court are collecting on are middle eastern. They all seem to move to England, get on the system then get pissed off at the wankers when they don't pay the little bit they are required to pay.

Apparently, the system was going so broke that they had to reduce the benefits that were given to each person creating a huge issue as the whole country doesn't work and relys on a few to pay for the lazy. Most notably happening in Venezuela right now.
