I woke up to 1/2 of my house flooded from a water line break in the concrete slab. The fun part is that everything was re-plumbed a few years ago and this was just an abandoned line that was capped off in concrete but the contractor never cut the pressure off to it.

In any case, the actual fix will be easy but I still need to rip up all the laminate flooring, dry it out, replace any damaged drywall, etc.

My main concern is ensuring there's no mold in the future. Also, there was a tile floor involved and I'm wondering if these will eventually lift / have issues.

Call a company like Servpro? I'm so burnt out on general contractors :grumble: I have a bunch of other work I'd like to get done too.

Any ideas, contacts?

I have a friend that owns the ServePro (Steve Shaeffer) in La Quinta. He also has a home in Havasu and is a rock solid guy that ensures customer satisfaction so he may be an option if need be.

I would not recommend servpro.

I have 2 blowers in my shed I could let you use if you do not want to make a insurance claim. I just picked up a truck load of laminate from a wholesaler in downtown LA if you need new.

Long beach house i assume.

most of those companies will cut the drywall up two feet from the floor in any area remotely close to the damage. Check for asbestos and lead depending on age of home and then stick dryers out. I would stick with a basic contractor.

You're right, the only thing different is the customer service. [emoji106]

CALL you homeowners insurance company ASAP. They will have someone right out, all on contract and direct billing.

It's funny, they won't pick up the "existing customer" line, but you call the "sales" line and they pick right up :finger

Yup, call the insurance if needed but don't let them force a company like ServPro on you.
All these companies are in bed with the insurers.

That's pretty much what I told the owner of my insurance agency... after he thought he was getting a sales call :D

Update:

Scott called in his guys and met me there Tuesday AM. The floors are up and out, and the dryers have been going.

Safeco stopped by and an adjuster cut an initial check on the spot.

I'd recommend both so far
