We lost more than five million acre feet of water in the first 18 days of February alone because we have not built any storage in which to save it. 5MAF is enough water to meet the needs of 50 million people for a year. The solution to water abundance is so simple. But since enough storage doesn't exist, there is no reason why this water couldn't have been loaded into irrigation infrastructure and used to make it rain recharge all over the valley. Decades of pathetic water waste continues instead...

In fact, the Chairman of the Board, Joaquin Esquivel, is that no experience member. Esquivel was an English major who used to manage a gay youth center, and interned for Barbara Boxer before Jerry Brown appointed him to the Board.
