Beautiful watch.

That is my Holy Grail watch but I refuse to go grey. I am on two "Lists" but I never expect a call.
Thank you. I hear you on GM and I finally just got sick of waiting for the call. I had a couple of really good AD connections that recently sold their shops. There are a couple of other models I am looking at but can wait. This watch was the one I have always wanted.

This one will fire up the Rolex purists:

I’ve pretty much given up on getting the call on a No-date Sub at this point. I wanted another watch and needed another beater, so I ordered a Steinhart Homage. This is the Ocean one 39 with aluminum (non-ceramic) bezel. Cost was around $400 or so. Quality is surprisingly good.

Anyone buy the new cheap Swatch / Omega ceramic watches?
I'm thinking to pick one up to go along with my real Omega! Can't lose for $300

Where did you buy? On their site it's about 650 Euros / Dollars
I purchased direct from their site, they are assembled in Germany with Swiss components. I used a travel card with automatic conversion. Current price shows as 450 euro but that includes VAT, which is removed when you ship to the US. I ordered on a Tueday around midnight AZ time and it was delivered via FedEx Thursday afternoon.

Nice thanks! Yes I updated my comment when I saw that the specific model was indeed around that price. Might get one!

I bought the 39 with aluminum (non-ceramic) bezel, my thought process is that it more closely resembles an earlier sub. A 42 with ceramic bezel would more closely resemble a new sub- but it’s not quite as close- the bezel is a little different. Some guys use heat to remove the cyclops, but I don’t want to damage the watch trying it.

“He confessed to running a Ponzi scheme and he almost does not seem to understand it,” said Chad Plebo, who helped put victims of in touch with the FBI in the case. “It’s such a bizarre, weird story.”

Well, finally treated myself yet again, this time, the most recent Omega Speedmaster Professional Moonwatch, Sapphire. I was pushed over the edge when it finally got the new movement with hacking seconds and co-axial escapement, and the new bracelet kicks ass. That's enough Omegas for now, now that I have THE Omega finally as well.

Couldn't get a good photo of movement on my phone, so internet to the rescue.

I don't know what will be the next Omega, or even next watch really. I would love a Pepsi GMT, but it isn't going to happen. Nothing else is really giving me an "itch". Reversos are just crazy priced right now, Lange is out of touch budget wise, as crazy as it sounds, some random Hamilton I will fall in love with and then maybe a used complicated Breguet in all its Breguet-ness. Two extremes.

Went down to the Rolex service center in Beverly Hills today to have my GMT serviced. Needs a service, crystal and a polish. (yeah I'm that guy).. They said it's gonna take about 8 weeks. ugh

I know B&R are probably overpriced for what they are, but aren’t all watches?

Kind of liking a couple:

Damn, nice collection. How do you do both? And how many watches do you have?

I have no watches and don’t wear jewelry, damn I’ve lost 2 nice wedding bands. Lol. Now it’s one of those rubber rings.

My bourbon collecting is pretty mellow. I target Jack Daniel’s of all limited editions and only pay retail so not too much money going out a year. There are some other decent pours in there for consumption, Blanton, Bookers, Eagle Rare, nothing crazy.

Same with the watches, I would call it 7 in rotation, 4 which I would say I had to budget for and treat myself annually, but each less than 10k. There some heavy hitter pieces in this thread that could cover my collection value twice with one piece alone, if not more.

What I really like about both hobbies is there is so much cool shit to enjoy at any price point, and can grow as much as you want with each, and continue to study and enjoy the knowledge.

I don’t wear jewelry at all, but watches are the intersection of art and history, fashion and engineering. The history and engineering are huge for me. This being the moonwatch, and the feat that it represents, and all the stories, make up a huge part of my enjoyment of it.

I live and work in a digital world, disposable technology, things in “the cloud”. Both hobbies reflect craftsmanship. I also like things like quality chef knives, and the sharpening of them by hand. Moments and reminders of human craft, and taking care of things that can last a lifetime, instead of in the trash like so much of the digital world.

Sorry for the ramble, but that is why I love my unnecessary hobbies.

One thing I'd like to point about rotors in automatics. Eterna was first to use the 5 ballbearing rotor that became industry standard.
This Junghans has 7 ballberaings. Some might argue the extra 2 balls may have more friction to affect accuracy. However, I prefer the 7 balls for more support for the rotor . Just reading about Rolex using sealed bushing types recently to make them quiter, claiming lasting longer between service. End of the bushing life, just replace the bushing instead of the cleaning/lunricating process of ballbearing types. Rolex> Their ceramic bearings are sealed in a lubricated enclosure, which supposedly will last through decades of use without needing replaced.

Like an integrated bracelet?

$500 for a Genta (AP Royal Oak, PP Natilus) designed watch:

Was looking at these, I was disappointed to read they use plastic parts. (pallet fork and escape wheel) It's not a big dollar watch, but still.

Always well reviewed.

Its pretty much the same movement in my Hamilton Pilot Day Date, just a different rotor I am sure. I agree about some of the components, but can also say that my Hamilton has served well for 2 years so far and accuracy is better than advertised, it stays within a second or two on balance over the week. Nothing like my Seiko of equivalent level supposedly. That bastard in 10 seconds a day off at least, and only in one direction mind you. End of the week its well off. But hey, it does better than the Miyota in my microbrand pilot.

I love them all, but it really does make you appreciate the METAS certified brands like Omega, new Tudors, etc. You get quite spoiled. Rolex and friends of course too. Just speaking for what's in my box.

Let us know if anyone finds out how to get one at MSRP? Mission to the moon for me. I already have the Omega Moon watch, this would be another wanna-be.

Take a look at 46m10s:

I never look at watches side-by-side, only in isolation.

Really interesting to me how one watch seems head-and-shoulders above the others when looked at that way.

My son had a beautiful Oris that he traded for a Eterna Kon Tiki he has now.

Son's buddy HAD this Oris Grand Reef Barrier that was stolen from his truck in 2022 . Guy listing it on FB market, no box, paper, but won't reply for calls about it. Police wouldn't get involved, even though the owner has all the paperwork. It's a are model Oris.
Fucking guy listing all kinds of stuff, most likely stolen.

The Swatch store at the Dallas NorthPark mall has every color in stock as of a few weeks ago, perhaps they ship? Price is MSRP, I think they said $275

You getting the deployant clasp or traditional buckle?

The buckle. The clasp is a little too thick, I think?

Really expecting the rubber strap will make me like the 300M again.

The retro bracelet was one baroque touch (scalloped bezel, skeletonized hands) too much.
