I want to instal a wash out valve on my 7.4/Brovo 3. What’s the best kind and why? I have the muff clamp style now, but I’m soon going to have my boat on a lift and it won’t be easy to get to the lower unit.

Also, I want to change the impeller. I see very low prices on ebay Are they Chinease junk. Where’s the best place to buy? Do I need to replace anything else at the same time? I’m having no problems with this boat, but it’s new to me and just want to make sure.

Are you referring to installing a ball valve into the incoming water line along with an input hose so you can close the ball valve and flush the engine with a hose?

Call Teague Custom Marine and ask their sales guys. They'd be happy to help get you a parts list for the flush kit. They'd also be able to answer your questions about the impeller.

On a used boat where you dont know exactly when the impeller was done last, I usually will do the whole kit that includes the housing and everything.

For the impeller use only Mercruiser or Sierra parts. Most of the others are junk.

For the engine flush. On my Fountain I put T's with a stainless cap in my water lines just before the strainers. Remove the cap, hook up a flush hose to the T, garden hose to the flush hose. I can flush the motors and back flush the strainers with this system. Purchased the parts from Teague.

So I already ordered just the impeller before I saw this. I guess I will take it apart and see if I need more. I assume bad ware will be quite evident?

im not sure how it is done, but I want to flush it on the boat lift with a water hose. I think some have ball valves and some have some kind of automatic valve. That’s kind of what I want gidince on. Several people (on another forum) have recommended plexco or something like that.
