With Trump not having been sworn in, Elon's not officially anything yet, wouldn't this be considered illegal under the The Logan Act, 18 USC §953 ?
The Logan Act has been suspended under the Biden administration. With Trump not having been sworn in, Elon's not officially anything yet, wouldn't this be considered illegal under the The Logan Act, 18 USC §953 ?

Apparently only when one political party uses it as a excuse to punish or ridicule their rival.

So yes, vindictive payback in the form of litigation is a possibility and Trump and friends aren't bashful about presenting themselves as huge targets.
Perhaps conversing with a nation's UN Ambassador doesn't apply, as it is that person's job to represent for both political and private business interests.
As expected, my initial question was answered with yet another question, so now it's expected that my response to that question will now be responded to with an example of how the other party fragrantly broke laws that were never prosecuted, Yada, Yada, Yada --- OK thanks, great chat
OK, well it seems we're done here, bye now

Unfortunately that would all be up to interpretation by the courts. In theory, I think the Logan Act applies only if negotiations are made, like signed deal type things. The other side can say it's wrong, just as this side can say it's just a private citizen speaking with a lower level beaurocrat. With Trump not having been sworn in, Elon's not officially anything yet, wouldn't this be considered illegal under the The Logan Act, 18 USC §953 ?
Yea, take that weak sauce back up to the lounge there buddy.
Take a deep breath, it's retribution time and we don't really give a rat's ass about their laws.....................that they didn't follow.

I was more curious if this would even be applicable with a UN Ambassador, who's roll it is to travel to other countries and Network with politicians and business execs alike.Unfortunately that would all be up to interpretation by the courts. The other thing that comes to mind, did it really happen?
He's certainly a bit of everywhere --- but I did notice one of his homes is in Bel Air, probably only keeping it for that big Reparations check Newsom's guilt is driving him to write.Pesky African
The underlying premise of MAGA is not that they have a problem with corruption, kickbacks, law fare, deals to the politically connected and all the things they allege liberals do, it is that they were not getting their "fair share" of those activities.Apparently only when one political party uses it as a excuse to punish or ridicule their rival.

Cue regor ---- " that they didn't follow." Cut --- And there it is folks

So they are now marketing liberal corrupt behavior as retribution. Much easier than just admitting that they are no different. And some will even buy it.

If you're referring to Musk, although not born here, he has obtained his citizenship, although there's some online chatter about him having worked here illegally prior ??I thought the same thing. The part I'm not sure about is registering - granted, I could be confusing this with other laws, but doesn't that act compel some to register as a foreign agent? If this is the case, then do you know whether or not he's registered?

The problem with lurch doing it, he was going behind Trumps back the whole time. And he did not have a current position with the administration. Not to mention he sold his daughter to one of ragheads of Iran. Not the citizenship, I'm referring to the FARA act, the Foreign Agents Registrations Act. I could be totally in left field on this one but that's why I thought they busted Flynn on (not registering?) and everyone was like WTF because Lurch did the same thing with Iran when Trump took office and Hunter never registered before talking to foreign gov's and everyone ignored those. Hoping someone smarter than me (and has better interweb abilities + time) knows more about this. Again, could be confusing or conflating a couple ideas...

True! We should have sent in our finest… Biden and Kamala’s team would have this buttoned up tight in our best interest. Maybe even send pallets of cash.Or, selling them Falcon 9's, or Lithium-Ion powered Tesla Death Machines
