Anyone have pics of their walkon trailer? Trying to find out how far back I should go with it, what wood to use, should i treat it, resin it, etc. I 99.999% of the time get the boat close and walk/pull it onto the trailer. Would be nice not to have to do the balancing act on the slippery trailer frame. Also protects against rock chips too? Any other cool trailer mods while I'm at it?

I don't have any pics of my old walk off.. I will say I would only do the center and not all the way around to the outside edges.. It makes it a pain in the ass to wash the underside of the boat!

I always liked the way chrome side guides looked, but some don't so that depends on tastes.. A reward strap under the bow is a nice touch if you plan on towing long distances.. Obviously integrated back straps.

If you are a gangster (and I know that you are) make some Back Jacks!

Have an Ellis too with the cat walk. It's nice. Had to replace the wood though. Was original from 1998 and I stepped through one side.

i wondered about the built in rear straps but i occasionally dabble in salt water by my house and id hate to have to chop them off when they get all goobered up. the trailer already had eye bolts on the corners so i left em as-is.

reward strap? you man something that would stop the boat from ramming forward in the event of a hard stop?

Yes on the strap..

Back Jacks are something I haven't seen in 20 plus years but always thought they were cool. They are basically an arm mounted on the frame of the trailer towards the back. They are on a hinge, and then are pinned up. When you pull the pin the arms fall to the ground, you put the truck in reverse and the trailer will go up on those arms lifting the wheels off the ground. Makes changing tires super easy.

I was gonna do hidden scissor lift jacks on my trailer adrenaline building for easy roadside service. They said cool idea but not needed w torsion axles. I could drive over rock or wood and lift tire next to it.

1/2 ply wood roughed up with 36 grit and wrapped in cloth, 2 resin coats finished with a wax coat. Did my flat bottom the same way in 95' just replace a coupe pieces of wood a couple years back. I just did the entire trailer to make it easy to walk off and on.

Yup I’ve seen your trailer and the adrenaline one with the tapered sides. Def a lot of time put into those and a huge payoff in the end result. Looks great.

I like run way lights for night time loading, looking to do some on my Trailer.

It would be cool if you flash em like an actual run way...

Last year, i did this same thing to my Ellis trailer. I filled the center and sides, plus the 2 smaller side pockets. I used plywood and resined the entire piece. carpet over with stainless staples. Theres alot of welding to do! It was a fun project though. It is very nice to have and use.

eh not a fan of the floater bars on older trailers. getting them lined up with the u bolt in the bow is a MAJOR pain in the ass and an easy way to lose a finger if theres any decent waves. I switched to the winch and post. On my old 18' jet bote it wasnt a big deal, I wouldnt want to try and "hold" my 21' open bow in place when a rollbar boat goes by at the parker dam launch ramp in havasu.
