Friend of mine crashed his 65 dub. He can’t even find a body shop to give an estimate for the insurance. I’ve been away from the game, so I don’t have a clue anymore. Anybody have one to handle a vintage job.?

No body shop seems to want to do more than slap on new parts and paint and send it away anymore. I couldn't find any place that would do a little rust repair on my wagon. So I am doing it myself. Custom hotrod shop is all I can think of for that kind of work .

Also interested, I have a 68 MGC GT project that will need paint. SGV area.

There are a few guys in Phoenix one seems fairly reasonable and typically does old buses. The other does amazing work but wants like 50K for a paint job. He takes the car all the way down to the pan.

MGC?!! I had a MGB GT. I did for my gf. Built motor. Roll bar etc. would love to have another. Let’s say body lol. If the suspension on those didn’t suck.
Flares, mini lites, twin cam, etc would be killer in my book.
Post up some pics of the build. MJC holy grail. Be cool if triumph hadn’t killed the MGB/ Rover.

Its getting the works-Sebring flares, Mini-lites, roll bar. Drivetrain is coming out soon, then full suspension refresh before the body work/paint. Considering injection, but might stay with sidedrafts. Ill snap a few pics later.

If he’s not in a hurry I’ve got a guy who does insurance work and specializes in Vw/Porsche. Feel free to PM for details

I would give Exclusive Image in Santa Clarita a call. He just restored his personal VW Bug and it came out beautiful. Ask for Gary or Shane. Don't know if he will take it on or not, but I would definitely give them a call.

… used a backyard guy in Pacoima for decades… He did impeccable work… The city came down on him, and he was fined… went to work for a bigwig repairing newer motorhomes… … my friend the judge… A real judge used another guy… A backyard guy in Sun Valley… That guy moved to Arizona..,there aint nobody in my end of the valley🤷🏽‍♀️… it is not like it used to be… It seems nobody wants to really work???…

Dave is a family friend and very good guy. He builds/restores all VW’s and has a paint booth in his shop. Not sure if he deals with insurance.

DNR is a good option! Unfortunately when we were shopping for a paint job he was about two years out at the time
