Vintage front engine dragster been stored indoors for decades. We fired it up a few years ago. Built powerglide and rear end. Detrout locker and disc. Comes with wheelie bar set up for sand and asphalt. Super cool just needs a good cleaning. 6K is the buy it now price. I’m posting this for my bud. If you’re interested PM me and I will put you in touch. It is located in Golden Shores between Topock and Needles on the AZ side.

It's pretty wild to have a ring and pinion that close to your nuts!! And better hope your elbows dont get anywhere near those paddles!

Glen Helen Sand Drags used to be the best times!

It would be cool to put some old slicks on it, some nostalgia injection and zoomies then loosen up the internals a little and fire it up on a alcohol nitro mix and use it for car shows and cackle fests. The car is super clean it’s just got years of dust on it.

whose the original builder?
No idea bro. Mid 60’s ish orig build from what we kno. My but got it 80 ish. Someone named Terry Green? Had it/ran it for a while. My bud did some updates on the rear end, disc brakes, put a built powerglide in instead of the lenco and newer sbc.

Looks kinda like a Gilmore, but hard to tell.
what i thought, the roll cage hints at Woody with the main bar being really straight up. its really throwing me for a loop seeing the engine pushed that far forward and round tube for the helmet loop in the roll bar instead of flat strap. the front section of the chassis looks really wide as well.

The front looks wide, but I've seen 2 baskets that had been "modified" over the years...both were victims of tire technology. They had come down hard enough in a panic lift to tweak the torsion housing. Easiest way to save the chassis was to lose some wheelbase.

The back of the car throws me, but there's been some work. I'm wondering if along it's career if the rear hoop got traded out. At the shifter and the brake handle, there's a seam there that looks like it may have been "pushed out". I've only been in a few of these, and a couple I was press fit, without a suit or a helmet.

It would be really cool to dig up the history on the thing. Sand or asphalt it could be real fun!

the back has definantly had work as well, but the seam by the brake handle is a good indication of wheel base adjustment, just an odd spot to do it, normally see it around the midplate / firewall to keep the integrity of the "cockpit" or out infront of the motor, the problem with infront of the motor is if you put a sleeve in it, you loose the flex and can create spots for it to crack. i have seen some really wacky stuff done with these cars. the seat is throwing me for a loop too, it looks like a fiberglass buggy seat dropped in there. that would make it even tighter but allow some adjustability.

The chassis I've seen, they bobbed the front "rails", pulling the axle back and putting in a new torsion tube. The back half, I wondered if it was widened aft axle...fat boy mods, or even for the bucket seat when it went sand dragging.

Could be, from what i can see the back end does not look like it has been widened, just going by i dont see a kick out anywhere. I know with the car below, we did some "funny business" in the back end to make it more comfortable for me. the steering is offset to the right because with it centered my left leg would hit my arm when working the clutch due to pushing the steering wheel forward which led to having to shorten the cowl and standing the windshield up more. thats what i love about these cars, especially back then your limited by your creativity.

Just looked at the pics again. In the ³/⁴ view it looked like it was kicked out at the weld. Then, looking down on the pumpkin, nope, looks dead straight. Hard to say really. There were probably lots of builders, using similar ideas...only the chassis that went on to winners made their Builders well known.

Now your car above, that's what I consider a rare beauty. It's a full bodied short wheelbase car. Jade Grenade and the like aren't the same, more akin to a modern fuel car and less "hot rod".

Looks like the lenco is still there
