I know some on here are into Vintage BMX. Dirty Fest https://dirtyfest.com/ is April 28-30 @ Vail Lake resort is going to be an epic weekend of racing, bike show, and all around great time. It is going to be an Old School downhill track with many of the greats from the time racing and hanging out. If you haven't listened to the Dirty Knobs Podcast yet give it a listen on Youtube. I am getting a couple of bikes ready to race all ELFs 86 20", 95 24" and a modern 26" Legacy model.

Nice old school bikes.

I’m halfheartedly working on getting my RRS 24” back together. Lost some expensive and hard to replace parts for it over the years while it was apart. Replacement parts are insanely priced.

That does sound like a blast. Have fun wrenching on the bikes and the racing.
What’s the cut off year for bmx bikes to be considered “vintage”?

Wish I would have never gotten rid of the boxes of parts, trying to replace a few on the black one crazy $$$$$$

Looks to be a cool event.👍
Lol😄, to me vintage is the mid 70s bikes that couldn't handle my abuse. Just glad I had access to some guys that could weld real well. Mom was tired of buying new rims too.😂

Mid 70's was my BMX era. Racing in Oakland and San Francisco, but NEVER winning!

Redline frame/forks, nickel plated, Alloy handlebars

Shimano dura ace crankset ($$$)

Alloy lace up rims w/ 1.75 tires

Bmx wasn't even a thing when I started. I made motorcycle handlebars fit my bike, ~circa 69-70 . Wasn't anyone around that had anything like them. 😎

These kinda bars numbnuts...since size was too thick I had them welded to a schwinn gooseneck which was the strongest back then.

My first real race bike was this R&R in 74. I started on a 16" Stingray at WSA in Orange in 73.
I had a R&R....those things were heavy!.... Then raced a JMC, then a GT... JMC was a fast bike... mainly raced azusa but also raced a couple nationals....

The vail race sounds like a fun event...

Azusa for me too! ABA track, also hit the NBA up the road to watch nationals.

Ok thanks. My 1991 S&M Holmes just makes the old school cut. Cool.

Back in the day. I always wanted one on these. Bassett BMX to match the headers on Dads float. And a Patterson rolling graphite tuff wheels. Just because.

Did you race at the track by McClarran Park in SF? I raced there once and a few times in Moraga, we had a local track there.

Yep. That's where we would go to practice also as we lived in SF at the time.

Three BMX bikes on the trunk mounted bike rack on my moms '71 Corolla Coupe.

Good times!

I used to ride my dirt bike all over McClarren Park, get chased by the cops on horses. We lived at the end of Prague St, rode right into the park. The fun was over when the horse cops learned where I lived, they would just wait at the house when they heard my CR125 screaming through the park.
