Vehicle options for tall people...

Everyone wants to be tall, but for you shorter folks, it isn't all it's cracked up to be. I'm no giant but am 6'3" with a long torso and wide shoulders. Head and elbow room has always been challenging for me in transportation, my oldest son is 6'5" tall with the same build but more width in the shoulders. My wife's son is 6'7" with a shorter torso but has long ass legs and will be in the market for a newer vehicle after I fix his POS Chrysler 300.

What vehicles fit taller and or wider folks shouldered body types? How tall are you and what do you currently drive?

I've got a customer that's 6'6" and swears by his Subaru Outback. Leg room is plentiful, and headroom is epic with the seat down.

I'll never forget watching Wilt Chamberlain getting into his VW Rabbit outside Mid Valley Racquetball back around 1980.

VW had moved the seat back against the rear seat to make room, his knees still surrounded the steering wheel.

I’m 6’7” 295 lbs, longer legs than torso.

Chevy seems to fit me really well. Dodge is too tight in the legroom on their 3/4 ton trucks.

It’s funny how certain cars just don’t fit certain body Types. My dad is 6‘4” but has a much longer torso than me. I can fit in a C5 Corvette just fine but his head hits the roof lol

For cars, Mercedes S class is fantastic. Tesla also fits pretty well for me. I’ve driven the model X and Y.

I drive full size ford pickups (raptor, f250 and f150 work truck), but mazdas are surprisingly roomy, as are some of the older vw/audi hatchbacks, and most gm full size suvs WITH power seats(escalade, suburban) but in my old sierra (manual seats) I had to cut the seat mounts down about an inch and weld them back together to not hit my head

Anything built by dodge/jeep/chrysler since the mid 2000s is cramped, awkward and uncomfortable.

Volvos also always seemed to be pretty comfortable regardless of age or model.

I spent 10 years in the car biz before moving to the heavy equipment sales world so I got to sit in and drive almost every make and model of car you can imagine.

i am 6'4" and was 360, for a car the most comfortable i have ever been was my Dodge Challenger, couldn't even put the seat all the way back, plus easy to get in and out of, surprising thou my moms chevy impala has lots of room also, besides pickups, tahoes, suburban s of course

I’m 6’8 and I squeeze my ass into a Charger 40 hours a week. Not much I can’t drive but there will never be room behind me. You may be surprised how well any newer car will fit you. We got a 2016 Jetta for a commuter and the seat goes back a mile!

6,3 and used to be 260lbs. Others have mentioned them but the VW Passat is the 1st car I’ve driven that I can move the seat back to far! My Nissan titan looked small but even my brother in law who’s bigger than me was surprised at how much room he had when driving it.

I have a buddy known for decades, Glamis camp pal, etc is 6’6, usually walked around about 275-285, union lather so fairly active. Lanky-ish, in a large way.
Endobear and I called him Ken the Giant

He went through a couple Ford Ranger xtra cabs as he could shove the seat way back.

After he retired we talked often and told him to go drive them all before you buy.
Pick the one that fits best.
He went (surprising to me as he’s never been a Mopar Guy) went Dodge 1/2 ton.

The guy has always had trouble trying to fit into vehicles.
Had a sweet 66 El-Co for a while but could hardly fit in it
When I met him he was in an SR5 Toyota extra cab circa 1988
Was a hoot seeing such a giant guy climb out of such a small truck

I was 6'1" and 175 Pounds in 1988 when our senior trip went to Disney Land. I road the rides and didn't fit, the knee securing devices didn't lock down and 20 years later took my kids to Disneyland . Had the same issues.

Weird I thought I replied to this originally. I’m 6’11’ on barefeet and have found this problem common. The 2005-2012 Chevy Avalanche with the removable rear wall is the only car that’s comforable

6'3 and above is only 2 or3% of the U.S. population.

I was 6'3 as a freshman in highschool. 125 ish lbs.
139 when I enlisted in the Navy.
And I'm the little brother.
Big brother is 6'6.

I've always had crew cabs.
Two extended cabs.
Standard cabs are cramped.
Most 4 door sedans I'm looking thru the b pillar, f that.
In a day cab Pete, I'll hit my head if the air seat is more than an inch off the floor.
The CJ7, I moved the seat back 3 inches, and lowered it 4. Bikini top helps.

Lol, my work truck 2021 F150 doesn't fit me all that well. Have to contort get my head in and it rattles like a mofo at the third door hinge point. Not a fan of Ford but trying to be objectective.

My son is 6’4” he fits in my Porsche Panamera w room to spare . I’m a midget at 6’1” my gf drives a masarati grand tourismo I just recently figured out you need to tilt the seat to get the leg room on those , those are the worse for leg room

Im 6'4" and my dodge 2500 is comfortable and I have had a BMW 530 and 328D and both had great leg and head room. I do like the leg drop in the pickup better though.

I am 6' 3" at 270lbs, wide shoulders, long torso as well. I mainly drive GM trucks or SUV's. I had to start getting trucks with no sunroof because my head would hit the roof. So much more headroom when there is no sunroof. Something to think about when selecting a vehicle and/or options.

Yeah they usually eat about an inch, to 1.5 inches of headroom

GM SUV's are hit and miss, still remember going to look at a new 2017 loaded Tahoe and I could barely squeeze my torso in to it, the seat was way to high and my neck couldn't bend enough to get in and test drive it. I said FT, salesman asked my ex and I to look at a 2015? GMC suburban, not what we were looking for but had a couple more inches of headroom and we bought it.

I was comfortable getting in to and driving my old 03 CC SB 3/4 ton Chevy Duramax, 05 ex wife's Tahoe, current wife's 2012 Camry, my current 2020 Durango RT, 2018 Challenger scat pack widebody, last ex's 2017 scion IM and most other vehicles I owned before that. My 2014 GM HD work truck sucked for headroom, my current 2021 F150 work truck is OK for interior entry and space, but have to abnormally duck to get in. My brothers 05 GTO is a little hard to get in but once seated is spacious.

The Durango is the most spacious vehicles I have been in, even with my 6'5" tall son sitting behind me, the challenger is a close second.
