In the next few years the US will mandate that all new cars sold in the states have this V2V technology. Each car will transmit a wi-fi signal to any near by vehicle and vice-versa. Effectively the cars will be talking to each other. The goal behind this is the cars will alert each other of a possible collision by alerting the drivers before a bad decision takes place by vibrating the seat. They claim it could reduce accidents by 80%! It looks like cars will become idiot proof

It's also in the works in Germany right now. They may have this V2V available first.

I just watched a tv add the other day with a car that had an emergency brake system on it. It is supposed to be automatic if something is to close to the front of the vehicle. I think this stuff is all pretty cool. My question is when cars drive themselves are they going to do away with dui laws? :D

That will allow tracking of movement of all citizens.. Upside is car thefts will probably go down and the car is telling every other car "help me". Lol

Cops will also have ability to shut the cars down in a pursuit pretty easily.

We're looking at some Electro magnetic pulse devices that thieves in Houston are using to open new car alarm systems. Tech is moving fast in the car world. Our interest is in using it to defeat cell phone IED's without having to call in federal assests.

The more I hear about this kind of thing, the more I want to only buy old cars, nothing newer than than say a '77 Trans AM. :rolleyes My kids will have to deal with these smart cars, but I'm hoping I'm old enough to avoid it. I just like simple things I can fix myself.....
