We're looking a purchasing around 10 or so cargo vans. Ideally 2019 or newer under 70k ish miles. Seems like price wise the ram 1500,2500 fits the bill. I'm trying to find a decent dealer that will actually return my calls and send some numbers in the so cal area. I've only gotten one dealer so far and they added about 3k of junk items to the invoice.

Any recommendations?

Ram promaster? They get terrible reviews and heard a lot of complaints.

For used Atlas seems to always have the most inventory.

Prices have definitely came down. I have 1 Chevy 2500 extended and was hard to find one with under 150k miles.

You need any box trucks. The dealer I have bought a few work trucks has a 16' for 32k off msrp. The 2 I am considering are 9-13k off msrp.

We have been leasing them for years along with the Ford Transit. The Ford is better but not by much. We have honestly had little to no problems with both ram and Ford.

I do need several box trucks as well.

I'll check out atlas!. Thanks.

DO NOT GET THE SMALL RAM PROMASTER

It is so bad. All of ours have/are shitting the bed catastrophically.
Good to know. I was considering maybe 1 or 2. I'll steer clear.

Caruso Ford in Long Beach has a bunch of Transit vans on the lot marked '23 on the windows...not sure if they're new old stock or what...but if they are, I imagine they'd like to move 'em. You might give 'em a call

This one would hold everything I need but to hard to park on residential areas. Had to bring 2 vans to hold everything for today's job.

Its a bit of a drive but reach out to Corning Ford. They are one of those dealers that people come from all over the western US to buy from.
I've bought several vehicles from them over the years. Not commercial for me, but they move tons and tons of all types of commercial.

Stay away from the RAM Promaster. We would by them by the truck load and 35% of them went straight to the dealer for repairs. They are junk loosing motors and transmissions

FAM vans in Fountain Valley was the place to go a few years ago

We have Hino/Isuzu cab over chassis & Isuzu FTR’s. The year of production will determine if they can be registered in CA.

Sounds like new might be out of your budget?

I don't even know if Carmenita Truck Center is still around. Some friends bought some box vans from them, appeared to be studio trades maybe?

This guy buys entire fleets from larger companies etc. also buys out companies that go under etc. Jeff can find what you need… And he’s a super cool guy to do business with. Don’t go by what the website says there’s an inventory call and talk to him tell him what you need and see what he can do for you

Just another vote against the ProMaster. Main issue for me is that it is front wheel drive and burns through transmissions. Transit 250 or the Transit Connect get my vote.

Ram promaster city (small one) has been good to me. 1 engine replaced under recall for oil consumption at 114,000 miles. Currently at 167,xxx. Other than that nothing but tires and brakes.

Edit: forgot about new cats being installed a month ago under recall

Lol. Ive had good luck with the 1500 and 2500. Leases at least 20 over the last 8 years or so. Almost 0 issues. But we typically turn them in before they hit 80k. So maybe they degrade after that.

We've been going through enterprise for years. Service and convincing has been priority over price. But that's changed need to cut overhead and this is the lowest fruit.

For starters I wouldn’t buy anything from dodge Chrysler stalantis or whoever owns them at the moment. The company has traded hands so many times in the last 50 years and ran into the ground. There never seems to be a shortage of idiots that say to themselves “I think they got it right this time”.

Sure a warranty is great but in this day and age where there are not enough mechanics to fix the F ups be prepared for a lot of downtime with tons of excuses. It’s no longer worrying about the cost as much as can you get it fixed or replaced and how long is that gonna take.

Stick to time tested platform for reliability and run them till they puke.

American V8’s particularly GM v8’s, Cummins 6.7 & Isuzu’s are the answer. Yes they cost more upfront but it will be cheaper than downtime

If you’re shopping out of CA you need to be looking at model years 2023 and older. Current years 24 diesel’s can’t be sold into CA due to CARb.

Tons of 23 trucks out there and they’re not giving them away because they were all built knowing what CA was going to break off in Californians asses.

A 26’ dry Van Morgan box made is Ehrenburg AZ cost about 36k with a lift gate and has a 2-3month lead time. Again labor is a major factor.

We have a bunch of Isuzu FTR’s throughout the country but don’t know if they are carb legal.

Next best is a Hino/Rebranded Isuzu S5 19800 gvwr chassis and those run mid 70’s before the box. I do believe these are carb legal 2023 models
