It's a privacy issue.

I'm lemon lawing my truck and I literally spent the last 2 hours looking for my records. Mind you, I knew I was going to be needing these in the future. If I didn't know I was going to be lemon lawing the truck, I would never find them, but most likely had thrown them out. Only the hard core paperwork people keep all their records. That's going to be a slim few in the boating world.

As for dealerships, it's not totally uncommon for a seller to sell or trade in a boat. Any boat dealer will buy any boat if the numbers work.

We see some boats that do and dont change owners over long periods of time and frequently get calls like "They said JBP did all the services yadayada could you tell me what was done " Although I'm not positive I think legally the service records are not yours as a shop or dealer to simply give up (without express permission) from the customer who contracted to do/pay for the work It may fall under some law that precludes you from giving/getting info just like DMV or a Doctors office (Hippa) There is often sensitive information on repair orders for example that could aid in identity theft, stalkers etc Just my slant folks

Post a picture. There are favorable odds someone knows it on here.

If only I had been less trusting when I bought my Deisel Pusher, it would have saved us a pile of money and heartbreak.
