Most wives don't want to go over 70mph anyways. I almost bought that Blue one with the flames and wouldn't have worried a bit. Personally, I think they are great boats...good freeboard, they always have good power, decent in rough water, fun for a speed run. The fact that some people that don't know keep the prices down is even better.
They really aren’t a great rough water boat. They have next to to no tunnel and they competed in drag races back in the day.

Don’t get me wrong HTMs have their place, but it’s on the ride home from pirates when the river is favorable for
High speed runs.

I don't believe I said they were great in rough water....I said decent. Meaning better than a 21 day cruiser. From my experience, they felt great riding on the tops of the chop.

Let's just agree to disagree. I would never buy a 21 Hallett either so our tastes are different. Remember, they make Ford, Chevy and Dodge for a reason. Different people are looking for different things.

Howard and DCB figured it out before anyone else IMO. Eliminator figured it out pre Covid.

But as @LargeOrangeFont says comparing today’s boats against 2001 boats is futile. Different motors, drives, gauges/screens. Everything has gone up.

If you want a 2005 boat the builders will build it but it’s 2022 hull, 2022 motor and rigging. Maybe you save a few bucks on the accessories.
Maybe we should consider what happens to performance boating when the legends who build them are all gone. Is there a next generation of builders up and coming?

Fair enough. You said decent in rough water 🤷🏼‍♂️

21 Halletts have records between long beach and Avalon. I don’t think HTM has pulled that off.

HTMs haul the mail, but so do the unicorn 24 v drive schiadas.

I believe we are a year or so from a downturn...if it happens.

IF it actually happens, and we have not imploded yet, supposedly it's going to be pretty serious, a depression rather than a recession.

More treading water and propping up by the FED is likely IMO...but ya never know, occasionally the "Experts" are correct...

🤨 one thing is for sure....we'll eventually find out!

But that’s when people buy boats…. Meaning demand should be higher then.

My whole point to this thread was that quality boats aren’t going anywhere. There may be deals here and there but overall prices are here to stay.

I remember seeing an outboard vector for sale in 2007 for 26k. And I remember telling my dad it was time to sell 😉
I’ve got an old beater Hallett for sale. 50% off new build too!

I dont see prices reflecting what seems inevitable with the economy yet. But toy listings seem to be on the rise. I think right now we are seeing the people that bought to try something new have had their fun or run out of money to have fun and something has to go. I think if i was going to sell this would be the time if your looking to get out even or maybe ahead. I think the price drop is gonna happen any day though. The good deals on the nice stuff i dont see happening for a while though. as people have pride and really try to hold onto nice things that they have. Only time will tell...

Ever been for a ride? I had a good experience and a scary one. Granted I was 10-14 but I know when a boat gets sideways.

My dad owned one. I drove it into the high 80’s it was capable of low 90’s. It never did anything weird. But you had to be careful with the trim as it would get loose with just a tap to the up button lol.

HAHA, Honda's have records at drag strips, but I still wouldn't be throwing hundreds of thousands at one of those pieces to do the quarter. I sure as hell wouldn't run a 21 Hallett to Catalina. Yeah, it was cool 40 years ago, but it's not cool anymore. Now, it's cool in a Fountain launching which I have done and wouldn't do it any other way.

Decent and good are two totally different animals. Decent is you don't get beat to shit. Good is your cocktail doesn't spill. At least those are my definitions.

We definitely won't see eye to eye as I'm just not a fan of mono hulls anymore. Even if I go saltwater, I'm going Glacier Bay. For Havasu, I'd rather do a Daytona which I did enjoy or an overpowered pontoon.

I'm looking for a v-drive day cruiser less motor. Looks like the Daytona is going down the short road to a friend in the next couple weeks less motor. Might jump on a 24-25 V for delta cruising if a deal pops up but we shall see.

Wells Fargo laid off thousands of Loan Officers yesterday and said will see then if more cuts are coming. I see used vehicles for sale for much longer periods or a price drop. They are not bringing the "Whore House" prices of several months ago.

I've driven my SS24 almost 130 on gps (on the limiter and out of prop). 60 - 110 it was pretty much untouchable. The people commenting on them negatively don't know what they are talking about. It takes a little skill to drive one and they are not the best rough water boat but what 24' boat is great in rough water north of 100 mph ?

They handle awesome at low speeds. They go so fast with much less power than any other cat. With the power it takes to go 110 in a 25 daytona you can go 130 in an HTM. I just had a 25 Daytona with 1000hp whipple motor so I know from experience.

If anyone has a SS with full steering they want to sell shoot me a PM as I am looking.

Ever been for a ride? I had a good experience and a scary one. Granted I was 10-14 but I know when a boat gets sideways.

Scariest time for me as a driver was in my HTM SR24...coming in hot around that last right turn into the sandbar, sliding around the corner hit a huge roller that pretty much put my on my starboard edge, tried to throttle out of it, put prop was probably out of water at that point, then when it grabbed we were now up on my port side but was able to gain control...there were some tears shed by two girls on the boat it was that scary...

That being said, I was never a safety lanyard kinda guy, until that day....had I been ejected from that boat, it probably would have been on a b line straight for the sandbar...from that day on, I always wear it...

Here in the Midwest, I think it's definitely going to be a buyer's market. I dont know anyone around here that is talking about getting a new float anytime soon....except me.🤪 Not seeing much for private sale because peeps are going to try and get their price in the Spring since they know nothing is moving now? I believe they are going to be disappointed.

The dealers are going to be absolutley flooded in inventory come Spring just like RV dealers are now. If I was selling anything recreational that typically requires payments, I would seriously contemplate learning how to plumb...at least around this AO.

The hang over begins in January. I hope everyone had fun and saved some money while it was flowing.
