How sketchy was is. I was thinking of trying it before I got the new boat. But second guessing it now.

wouldn't be near so bad if the water was clear... after the storm it was heading up a dirt road,,,

2FF I saw you moving all weekend and it looked like you were having a good time on the water. You can't miss that gel coat. It really pops on the water.

By the way your wife put the boat on the trailer like a champ.

Nothing like a sunrise ride run from Bullhead to the Springs to eat
Slow down and grind on the bottom extremely shallow in the morning

If you don't know the river its best to stop at Needles

no shit!!! skechey to say the least..visability on the water was about a 1/2''

some guy told me to get a depth finder... I said, so that way I know how deep it was when I hit?:eek

had it trimmed up and was floating through one know shallow area.. bumped the skag on the drive but no damage...

on pin is the way too go if you know where the rock bars are...or follow someone that knows....

wouldn't advise someone to do it clear water, let alone in muddy water

thanks , shes a keeper... in my short life she has drivin a lot of different boats....

I asked her over the weekend,.. if you had to pick a boat that you had to keep for the rest of you life what would it be??? she said a 270 hallett open bow;)

next was the cheetah wild cat...but her favorite was the 21 schiada twin turbo...also ranked high was the 240 hallett...

I know that section of river well. The most important things to keep in mind is: time of year, timing of water releases, and as noted the clarity.

From late spring to mid summer, the flows are much higher. Typically in early august, flows start a gradual decline throughout the rest of the summer into the fall.

Flows from Needles up through the Avi start to rise about 12 noon and peak about 8pm. if one doesn't know the best routes, just wait until 3-4pm before running up past needles bridge.

For the most part, the arizona side to the middle of the river is better, except for a few spots.

Yes it's best to run with someone who knows the channel very well
Our group has over three decades experience running that section in as little as a 1/2 unit of flow
In big twins at 5:30 am
Having to start up River to turn around in deeper water to go down river on plane a buck something the whole way ! 37 miles in 23 minutes

I have been wanting to run up that way for awhile now. I have made it a mile or two past Needles and go a little farther every time I am up that way. Anyone have a map of the river with the caution points or can make one?

I have been running that stretch for 20 years and hit bottom once. Learned my lesson. I launched out of Willow Valley for a quick run on Saturday and saw how brown the water was and decided to stay up river. No way was I going to navigate the large rock bar just down river when it looked like a chocolate milk shake. Could not read it.

While I was on the beach I recognized your Cheetah boat blasting buy on your way down from the AVI and thought "man I hope he knows about that rock bar". Sounds like you did well. Water is usually very clear and refreshing.

you just have to watch out for the spots that looked like whipped cream on hot chocolate
