I absolutely love mine. Everyone trips out when the water is rough as fuck, and they are just kicking back drinking their beers!

I've lost track of how many times I've heard "damm this thing rides nice!" :D

That toon on the first post would be a nightmare though, the floor plan sucks azz, and you would fry your feet on those floors. :thumbsdown

I'm pretty sure at last years LOTO there were 2 differernt toons that went over 100, so if you want to go fast, you can.

They are the most comfortable way to have fun on the water. And if your someplace like Mead, you never have to worry bout the weather. :thumbsup

LOTO,,,2011,,,Southbay with triple 300's it hit 107 mph in one mile shootout.

Not saying it isn't possible to break 100 in a toon. Just saying if you have one boat that tops @ 70 with twins, adding 50% more power won't equate to 50% more speed. My guess, that boat @ LOTO would be considerably higher than 70 if you dropped that 3rd motor.

Ok, I've never owned a toon or a Deck boat. Are you saying the toon's ride so much better than a deck that you can walk around leisurely while going 45 on a toon where on a deck you couldn't?

Yes.

Wow... I never thought in a million years people would be so passionate about toons, either for or against. My god, it's just a boat people! Get a grip! If someone likes a toon, so fucking be it... Everyone wants to compare dick sizes and shit...

Annnnyways, that 100mph SouthBay at LOTO is fucking AMAZING! I'm sorry, but if I could go 100 mph when I want on a toon and still comfortably take 14+ people anywhere on the lake in any conditions... I would be sold.

But alas, I just have my little 21' LaveyCraft that goes 60 tops... It's a fun little boat

You must be new around here! :D

Inmates get restless from time to time, and it's what we do do pass the time. Kinna like bag'n on your friends at recess, it rarely goes behind the back stop after school. :p

WHAT POWER??? /SIZE

28ft tri, 150 V6 2 smoke. Fuck, 23 4 blade I think?? I can't really remember right now.

It used to go close to 40 before my son installed a huge dent in the rear of one toon. :grumble:

Tri-toons ride a LOT better than a regular toon, and are much more efficent too.

Mine is a Parker boat only. With a 25gal fuel tank, and a V6 2 smoke, its range is limited to say the least. :thumbsdown

You're right... I'm new here compared to everyone else... and now that you mention it, it does seem like some good ol' boy ball busting... I guess I just didn't think people were so passionate about toons. I learn fast though...

Well I just moved from a 28' Deck Boat that I had for about 8 years to a Tri-Toon for our everyday use boat so here are my actual experiences.

Deck Boat; 2002 28' Advantage PartyCat XL with HP 500EFI/Bravo XR and 24P Bravo 4 prop.
  • Boat would easily carry 12 people comfortably
  • ~65 MPH top end with Bimini's down - 57 with them up
  • Boat rode fine in the chop but still a little rough on big weekends
  • We did beach it but we were very careful with where, when and how
  • We cruised between 35 - 45 most of the time
  • Fuel usage was high.......$300 is for a weekend
  • Had all the bells and whistles.....Including a built in blender

TriToon; 2011 Premiere 24' with Honda 150 (4 Stroke) with 17P 3 blade SS prop
  • Boat carries only 10 comfortably....although rated for 14
  • ~33 MPH top end....bimini up/down it doesn't matter
  • Boat is FREAKING AWESOME in chop...even on holiday weekends
  • We beach this thing ANYWHERE and anytime (within reason....and if we need to be further onshore....we just motor on
  • We cruise between 24 - 27 most of the time
  • Boat planes almost immediatly
  • Fuel usage is like 3 GPH overall the way we use the boat.....you do the math on the fuel savings
  • Still have most of the bells and whistles.....but miss the blender:D

We now have fun in the Donzi when we want to go and have some faster fun while not burning gas at a crazy rate, all in all it's a pretty good combo that I never would have thought of 20 years ago when we were pounding through the chop in our 21'er.....all in all boating is different these days....and just turning the key on an electronic fuel injected 4 stroke O/B and having it hum like a swiss watch isn't too bad!!

Can someone help me understand why it would be good to go 100 mph in a pontoon?

I love pontoons. They're great but 100 mph? 35~40 is well sufficient in a toon.

Putting a 2.5l EFI Merc on a 16' Glastron makes way more sense to me than tripple Verados on a pontoon. It's cool in a dukes of hazard sort of way but I'll take the Honda 4 stroke that is almost silent and can push the pontoon along at a reasonable speed using extreme little fuel.

First off I am an outboard guy but...

My only concern with the verado is that while it is an outboard it is basically a stern drive in an outboard cowling. A supercharged four stroke technologically is no different than lets a merc 600 right? I understand that they are two complete different motors but never the less running at extended high rpms must be rougher on the motor than a 2 stroke. I always thought that the advantage of outboards was weight saving and the capability of high rpm running at an extended period of time.

I guess in a toon though you won't be running pinned all of the time so a verado makes sense. Whats the difference in performance between two verados or two small block I/os? And what's a verados price tag these days? I've heard a 300xs ranges from 18-22 new depending on who's selling it
