in the same boat here.....

Sam's club is making a power move this year. Costco doesn't have much in their ad.

Thinking OLED somewhere in the 70's.

Open to suggestions?

Read reviews if the TV suffers screen burn.
Evidently Samsungs usually don’t, some LGs do.

LG C2 has been way better than our samsung it replaced. The samsung wasn't even old, it just took years off my life making me rage at it daily. Surround sound eArc dropping out- both samsung, both new, both bought at same time, middle range products..

I think any of the LG OLED line would probably give the same result.

Just bought a Vizio 65 in QLED at Sams in Bullhead City. $459 ......had good luck with my old Vizio. Bought it in 2017. still worked but the upper right-hand corner was getting darker. The days of a TV lasting 30 years are long gone

Got a 75" at Wallyworld a month or two ago for same price.
Our 70" was a 3D, which we never used, but it was dated and unable to update Netflix beyond late November 24. Had to have been 10-15 yrs old. The 70 is now in my garage.

We bought an LG 65" OLED 7 years ago. We had severe screen burn within the first 3 years. LG warrantied and had a technician replace the screen. Fast-forward 3 more years and the replacement screen now has severe screen burn. No longer under warranty and the replacement screen cost more than you can buy a new TV and that doesn't include labor to replace it.

That said, we are in the market for a new TV as well, but it for sure won't be an OLED.

We just upgraded the master bedroom TV to a highly rated LG C4 OLED. The picture is amazeballs. Just trying to make the wife happy.

Bought it at Costco, it included 5 years of total warranty.

The living room TV is a 8 year old lower end Sony led that still looks great. Progress means a better TV than our Sony these days would probably only be $500 bucks.

You don't have to buy the greatest thing they are all pretty good... And you won't cry as much when it goes bad.

I usually get my tvs from costco, seem to have the best pricing on them. I like samsung, We have a few of the 85" QN85 QLED series and they have been great tvs. all apps work good and we haven't had any screen burn

I was in Costco a couple days ago. They had a solid selection.

I think Best Buy has the biggest selection, but it's tough to find the Good ones on sale.

I Iike the Sony Bravia line. The black colors are actually black, not just dark grey, and the colors are sharp and clear.

Expensive, but worth it, if you have a nice collection of 4k DVD's.

And even if you don't, they upscale the lesser signals (like streaming stuff) very nicely. 👍🏼

Check out the TCL lineup, have a Sony Bravia in the living room and a TCL in the bedroom. TCL picture is better, Sony has better sound. TCL is a much lower price point. Will be replacing the Sony with a TCL when the time comes.

My last several purchases were LG models. If you can, they even have their own stations and channels for free that stream their own contact, including movies and the quality is absolutely insane.

I’d absolutely go with LG and go to Costco due to the extended warranties

Hard to beat Costco!

I've had my best experiences with LG. I stopped buying Samsung.

Good luck!

Our higher end Panasonic just got the Fox News logo burned in after 11 yrs. It’s very faint but there. Been very happy with it and for the amount it has been used when my kids were growing up.

I tend to buy more expensive TV’s from Best Buy during the Super Bowl

looking at the Neo QLED at Best Buy. Seems better than Sam's Club for 100.00 dollars more...

Seems there is a good reason for that!

My two cents. The LG is difficult to maneuver in and out of apps and they try to make you use their setup. Its not very intuitive and my GF gets frustrated and hands me the remote....its a mans job anyways. I like the VIZIO at my office and I have a 15 year old Panasonic 65 that i brought out to the river a couple years ago nothing wrong with it I have a firestick on it.

Just picked up a 65" LG C4 OLED for $1200 shipped (including tax) from greentoe.com

I was looking for the G4 model, but just could not justify the extra costs, the reviews on the C4 are great.

Honestly 99% of those built in smart TV os’s are total shit. They’re rarely updated, slow, and underpowered.

The firestick option is far superior, they know what they’re doing.

We have Roku devices on all our televisions that way you only need to learn one remote.

And it operates faster than the built-in OS.

Plus LG and Sony don't do spectrum cable app.

If you have a spectrum DVR get rid of it. It is cutting down your signal quality to 1080i.

You will never get 4k or even 1080p through a cable box.

Had this conversation in recent group texts. Nord seems to believe you need a tv with 120hz refresh rate or it’s a not a good tv. I feel like you can’t even stream tv at a high enough rate to make a difference. 🤷🏼‍♂️ I’ve bought plenty of expensive TV’s in my day. Now I buy cheap ones and have them in every room in the house.

My first large purchase, that was not a vehicle, was a 65" 1080p 2nd highest model in the store samsung tv for my mom back in 2014 for about $3k.
It has a 240hz refresh rate and is still kicking too. I don't think 240hz is very common these days in the 4k and up consumer grade tvs. Its very thin but the lg c series is insanely thin for the display.

Prefer samsung for the 'smart' part of. The functions on the LG are not as user friendly.
We have 75 samsung, all the fancy shit. It's impressive. Don't cheap out on the mount regardless, and make sure you hit studs (different studs than JBNSOCAL hits)

… I have a big fat Sony TV in my bedroom a really old one I paid 20 bucks for at a thrift store as a spare TV …maybe 10 or 12 years ago.., the picture is remarkably good… but when the power goes off … there’s really no way to turn the TV back on… Another but… If you wait about a week.., it just comes back on by itself… Sony has no answer… DIRECTV has no answer…. and every time I tell Neighbor girl …let’s go to Costco and get a TV… invariably it comes back on… that big fat TV is still in my bedroom… I leave it on 24 seven🤷🏽‍♀️

I guess it doubles as a heater this time of year? but honestly, for a hundred bucks you could get a bigger TV that uses 10% of the energy.

I cant tell you what to buy, but I can say I am not purchasing another Vizio. I have 2 that are less than 1 year old and I am about done with both of them. Randomly shutting off, issues with eARC, the remotes suck, they are constantly updating (half the time while youre trying to watch something), etc.

check out RTings.

83” Samsung s90d or LG C4

so just kinda went through this one...

the Samsung was a no go for me for a couple of reasons.... 1) no support for dolby vision (while it supports other HDR's, a lot of stuff i'm seeing and getting is DV encoded. 2) they're just not as bright as the C4 or G4 (def not even close to a G4)

I so hate to say this, but...

The Apple TV stick interface is fucking sweet. It's better than all the rest.

Now I have to go punch myself in the face.

I’ve always purchased higher end TVs like Sony, Samsung etc. my brother in law swears by TCL from Walmart. I bought one for our cabin as we are not there much. Freaking TV is great. I love it. It’s only a 55 I think and it was less $278 or something. Can’t tell any picture difference from my Sony. My sister just bought a 70 inch and loves it.

I honestly have not used the Apple one.

While i DO use an iphone and a company sponsored Macbook Pro, thats my extent on Apple products. The firestick 4k being ~$28 makes it just a easy win for me.

So I did the same thing... I have a nice downstairs tv and a more budget one in my bedroom. I bought a 55" Hisense 4k maybe 2-3 years ago for $420, its been great. It doesnt hold a candle to a "good" tv in the image department, but for watching some stupid shit in bed, or having something on while i'm getting ready, its great...

At the end of the day, if you dont have anything to compare it to, you'll be blown away by the cheap tvs. If you set one next to a LG G4 tv you'll shit yourself with how large the difference is.

My friend has the Apple stick. That's how I learned about it. I had to set it all up for her.

The Fire Cube is 10x better than the Fire Stick. Why? If you read the fine print, you'll see the stick won't always give 4k or Atmos. The cube always will, if available.

Google TV is ok. It gets the job done, but it's search feature sucks big time, cause it will ignore your paid channels (Netflix, Prime, Discovery +) and only find the programs on its platform. That of course, it wants you to pay for. Shocker eh?

And that LG interface sucks a big donkey dick.

That's all I know! 😜
