Back when I was a kid we had lots of citrus groves. The quail loved the habitat I guess because most groves held a few coveys. I remember declining a hunt with the local kids once for some reason. Bad deal, one guy shot a flushed bird and hit the guy on the other side of the tree. The kid lost an eye at 15.
FL was mostly cattle ranch’s (woods) and citrus groves back then, today the citrus is frigged up and quail are a rarity even in good habitat.
