I teach anyone who'll listen to always two foot on the ramp. Keeps it from breaking loose, and also as a safety from accidentally still being in reverse from backing down. Also, if you are sliding going down the ramp backwards, you're probably backing too fast.
That's what I do actually, makes sense to me I just kind of figured it out. You don't want any backwards momentum when you're trying to go forwards lol

Yes. Many people drive that way anyway. I learned on a manual, so rarely do.
that sounds like a recipe for a fast way to wash your truck at the bottom of the river/lake

its hard enough for people to know which way to turn the wheel to get the trailer to the left and right. but hey if you want a show tell people that.

You’re not following. It’s protection from being in reverse.

This why I always roll the drivers window down and try to keep the driver door halfway open if not, then closed but not latched. If anything happens I can just jump in the truck or Dukes of Hazzard through the window. I can't believe the people that have their wife and kids strapped into the truck while on the launch ramp. Just seems plain stupid to me incase it does go in the water for whatever reason. They're strapped in to drown. Different if it's your mother in law. I joke, I joke.
