Not talking about the frame I owned a couple late models the box material very light I can dent or wrinkle it easy compared to my old 99,s , dont lash anything to heavy to the corner eyelets they will start pulling up , like I was saying I cant believe how this ford had already twea the box out of alingnment just telling what I see and deal with .

If you aren't using box mounted anchors, which anyone with a brain that owns a large camper knows not to, there isn't really an issue as the box itself isn't bearing any load at all really.

The Ford you are referring to sounds like it is suffering from the brilliant engineering decisions to go with Aluminum for the box material.

So i've gone fairly deep down the rabbit hole on these campers this last couple of weeks. I think i MAY have shifted my thoughts a few times, but I think I'm going to try to find a Northern Lite 9-6 thats a year or two old.

Its a super shitty time to be buying, so i'll likely hold off until things normalize in the market. These dealers are making a killing on things right now, and most dealers have zero stock. Everything on RV Trader is "on order" and WAY marked up.

Maybe you’ll get lucky and someone here might decide to sell.

I bought a Toyhauler cause I didn't wanna deal with all the drama of a motor home. Now, looking at no registration, wheels, tires, and brakes to worry about...

This seems like not too bad of an idea after all. Good luck to ya!

1985?? My toy hauler is a 2000. The only thing keeping it together is duct tape and zip ties! LoL
I didn’t even notice the year, just looked like an awful big camper for a short bed 1/2 ton Chevy. 😂

If it was a Ford F150 it would be LOF approved.😂

The one above is aluminum so I can still tow 10k with camper on. Those Toyos are rated at 4400 per tire.

In the olden days I had the biggest Lance on an OBS Ford 7.3 towing the Schiada and blew a couple tires. Was overloaded for sure.

Dig your set up. Any interior pics? My Alpenlite 9.5 with a slideout was a heavy beast. My 10 ply 17” Toyo‘s and Weld Rims were my weak link. Had a blowout with those Toyo‘s on my way to Mammoth. Only had like 15k miles on them. Toyo sent the tires in for forensic analysis that came back inconclusive because the tire was shredded so bad (shredded the bed side of my truck as well). Switched to 8-ply Michelin after I sold the camper. Still miss it but would like to get a set up similar to yours.

No interior pics but the website has some. It's an Adventurer 80RB.

I have the optional air cond, microwave, wireless electric jacks and rear awning. It's good for sleeping but it's pretty tight inside.
And the toilet is best used by midgets but if you gotta go inside it works. The tanks are tiny so I have two big water tanks in the bedsides with a pump to refill the camper.

We mostly use it in middle of nowhere in Baja and use a shovel for a bathroom. A small Honda generator fits in the rear bumper swing out box to run the A/C. It has an outdoor shower and propane water heater, I've never used the inside shower. It's a wet bath.

Note that it's under 2000lbs with my options and designed for a shortbed half ton truck but I put it on a F350 long bed diesel so truck is not stressed with it.
And I wanted a camper flush with the bed so I could have a swing gate for the 37" spare. I have an aux fuel tank where the spare was under truck.
The rig is light enough to get through sand and with on board air I can air down if needed. Also have air bags with a cab control to add some spring weight when towing.
It has long travel leaf setup from a combo of Carli and Icon parts and a aftermarket sway bar from Hewling.
