Hard to get an answer if the camper is covered with the truck or I need a separate policy.

State Farm and Progressive say I need a separate policy ( $1,100 a year) , while another guy said he has both Prog and SF and his agent said he is covered under his truck policy.

Anyone have this set up?

I can't remember what I had but I think it was something like a cargo rider on my policy, State Farm.

Get a separate policy!!!!

Yea. . . camper is "kind" of covered while on the truck but not for much.

I got a separate policy for my camper (Progressive) so it covers many other things. It's only $250 a year.

Things like vandalism, someone slipping & falling out of your camper, hail hitting your camper while parked in your driveway or someone damaging your camper while camping.

Your regular truck insurance won't cover most things on your camper. It will if you have an accident with the camper on the truck but for a lot of the other things, it won't.

Example. . . . cooking something on the stove. . . forget to turn the burner off when you go for a ride. . . . camper burns down taking the truck with it.

Another example. . . . someone slips & falls on the step to your camper. Truck insurance won't cover that.

Another example. . . . awning out. . . wind comes up. . . . rips awning off and destroys side of camper. Truck insurance won't cover that.

And yet another. . . camper gets robbed/broken into while parked. Truck insurance won't cover that.

Separate RV insurance on the camper will cover the other stuff and its dirt cheap.

Yeah that was my line of thinking, too many variables not to have it for $1,000 a year. Lithium batteries, solar etc.

LOL Starting to be a wealth prevention program

Yup. Separate insurance is dirt cheap and it covers so much more.

Roof leak and it damages your sleeping bags - covered.

Truck insurance won't cover that.

… I have Allstate… I am about to embark on this journey… Yes, I do have a separate camper policy… And yes an uninsured drunk driver ran into it Sunday… My Lance 900 camper is totaled obviously… pretty sure I just have collision on the camper.. I was told by Allstate years ago that collision coverage would take care of my issue of being hit by an uninsured motorist … I went through something similar to this a number of years ago, and my collision insurance covered the damage when I didn’t have uninsured motorist… pretty sure camper insurance is cheap with Allstate…🤷🏽‍♀️
