Outdrive1 (Paul) had a perfect TWISTER listed. Hope the owner of that boat doing ok.
Thanks Hanging in there but a ways to go!! The Twister would be hard to beat but the 23 Trick with 450 would be a nIce Package!!

Jeff just texted me Photo been working his ass off all weekend on capping Handing off to Painter Tomorrow.
He is a good dude and will continue to bring this to the top in class.

Thanks for the post Dave !!

In the 80's and 90's Reynolds built many 23 Cougar MTR's. They hauled ass with twin outboards, 80-90 mph.My favourite was the 27 MTR, the 25MTR was a nice one too.

Back in the day when I was buying my first Eliminator, those specs included how much a month, and the down payment. 😁

No way it’s gonna put up those kinda numbers.. the new motors are a lot heavier. 110-115 is my guess.
That hull looks like it could light as fuck and also has a lot of air entrapment surface. I’ll bet it lifts almost entirely out of the water once it packs air. Will be interesting to see what attitude it rides at when it’s spooled up. Little wide body boat was something Danny and I were talking about quite a bit, he had some pretty cool renderings he wanted to make a run at.

What rpm can those new engines spin up to? I’m out of the loop on these stats but can only imagine the tech is insane now compared to a decade ago.

6400 rpm on a 300r

But the new motors tend to pull 1-2 higher pitches than a 2 stroke 300 (Optimax XS motors).

what is the redline of the new Merc 4 strokes ? 30 Spectre can run up to 104 mph with old 300 OB's. Surely this new cat could do well in 3 digits!?

Is there a hack that will void the warranty and spin higher rpm’s?

Through the grapevine, it sounds like mercury is really cracking down on that. I’m sure it’s still possible but you don’t want to be caught messing with it.

From my personal experience with boats in this length/size I would do a 450 whatever single, or go shop for some 2.5s for a twin rig. I don't see it being worth a shit in any kind of water with ~1400lbs of high CoG motors and rigging plugged on the back.

I’m just curious what they are capable of with a consumable type of mindset LOL

Solid point, so let’s say one of these hulls with some livid 2.5’s on the juice, wondering how it would stack up to a Mach 22 with same rigging?

How fast were 23 cougars with 2.5s?
The Warlock 25 STX ran 85-90 mph with two 2.5 outboards. I think the Cougar 23 MTR was close. There was a 23 MTR wth twin 300's that ran 90.
I would try a 6.2 supercharged single on this 23 Trick.

You’ve got 280s right? I think the issue is after 100 you gotta really start bumping that trim button. You know with your brass balls 😁.

Edit. I think someone has gotten a 22 into the 130s with 300 drags.

It’s all speculation until we see how it runs..
My Guess 102 mph 300R, 112 mph 450R may be a Enduro option with center Pod 110 mph Max.

I was hoping to run the Twister since the new F-1 Champ boat Class was established.

I’m pretty sure most twin 280 Mach 22s run in the 120s.

Yeah 280s con. Just feels like I hit a wall at 110. Need to try again with less fuel.

Hardest turning things on the planet are single engine true tunnels. F1 boats
When they dump the motor and slow down lol

Edit.

These new 21-24 tunnel hulls seem to have the motors way higher out of the water at WOT.

I’m sure a formula 1 boat is running the same but their tunnel/sponson depth doesn’t seem to be nearly as deep.

Those Formula 1 tunnel boats spend more time in the air than in the water. I knew Lee Davies very well, he had a marine business in Port Moody BC not far where I lived. Watching him and the other drivers doing 90 degree corners is mind boggling.

another canuck I've known and involved with was Jim Hutchison. He passed in 1995, his son Dave is still in the marine part biz part time. Old hobbies never die. Jim had a 3 point hydro he designed and built, and set a record of 90 mph in 1952

Driving an F1 boat is on my bucket list for sure. My old stoker would pull some G’s in the turns, amazing feeling on the water.

Bad ass!!! I love how the seats are hidden from the outside view. One thing that always bugged me on the twister was the seats.
