Like him or hate him. He is a dare devil. Imo he sets the bar for modern day fmx tricks.

Totally agree. I’ve worked in the MC industry for 25 yrs and over those yrs have worked closely with and become friends with a lot of factory riders, industry peeps etc. In all of those yrs the only person I asked to take a pic with was Pastrana and I was like a little kid all over again . He’s just such a bad ass fun having dude!!

Same! I worked in the industry for 20 years, very close with TP at my Spy days and was always star struck. He is just a bad dude but so nice.

Funny story, when I first moved to California, me and my best friend, Chris were riding at Glen Helen, and TP was there practicing and testing. We happen to walk by him in the pits and he said to us “hey, what’s up guys how are you“, like he had known us for years. He stood there and talked to us for a few minutes about testing and about the track that day and then went on his way. Me and my buddy talked about it for years and still do to this day. He is a class act.

Always liked him. I liked all the OG riders though but Travis optimizes adrenaline junky.

If anyone hasn’t seen it, HIGHLY recommend watching “unchained - the story of freestyle motocross”. Goes into how crusty demons of dirt started and began freestyle and Travis as a kid was just insane. Outstanding documentary.

Love him or hate him? Who could hate him? When he was doing freestyle he was always helping his competitors get better. When he was racing, he was on the podium talking about how great everyone else was riding. When he got beat he was truly happy for them.

Such a super humble super star athlete, I have never met anyone as genuine as TP in all my days of action sports.

I've been fortunate enough to have hung out with him and Jolene, Tommy a few times at XGames, they are all fantastic and hilarious, such a fun group to hang and party with!

Being 50yds away when he pulled the first double back flip in competition was pretty fucking exciting....

I had lunch with TP and his crew a couple of weeks ago after his Daytona 500 run. Nitro Circus is building a park and training facility at Mid America Outdoors In Jay, OK. The park ordered the most insane airbag the world has ever seen, and construction is underway on the track right now. More to come soon

I don't think I've ever heard of someone hating TP. Seems like an awesome guy.

I remember back in the late 90s when Pastrana came to the US Open in Vegas at the MGM, at the ripe old age of like 17, and was laying a whooping on the field. Even back then you could tell he was just genuinely happy to do what he was doing.

My buddies that put on that US Open race ended up going on to create the indoor Endurocross series in Vegas as well. Those were awesome events.

I do miss that MGM race, we would always get front row tickets and you could just about touch the riders' bar ends as they did the triples.

Him and Andy bell were sitting next to us at schooner or later in seal beach 10 or so years ago, it was my daughter birthday, he took a minute to say hi and take a few pics with her, pretty cool cat and arguably one of the best all around wheel men there is.

So from Travis Pastrana(which he is a great person by the way, in my experience) to a link about guns?

He gave up alot to do what he is doing now! In his early years, he lost ALOT of sponcers to pursue his DREAM moving from MX to EXTREME (hell his parents were even against it in the beginning). But stuck with it and built an empire and made FMX among other stuff what it is today!

And everyone has a choice to run/ride/jump/fly with him when asked, nobody made them join. I would jump in with him in a heartbeat if I ever had the opportunity!!

There is a video out called 199 lives. Travis talks about the accident in that video. Pastrana is one of a few people in the world who separated his spine from his pelvis and walked again. He has night terrors and to this day wakes up in the middle of the night screaming. They think it's because he suppresses his fear when he's awake. I was working in the pits at the Hangtown MX one year and his mom was frantically looking for him because his moto was in ten minutes and she couldn't find him. He was outside of the pits in the crowd near the vendor area signing t-shirts hats and whatever. She about dragged him by his ear back to the semi to get suited up. The guy is an original.
