Took my toy hauler out this weekend, and noticed i got a fresh gash in the side wall. While looking at the gash....noticed that the damn tire was starting to separate as well. The other 3 aren't doing it, but im gonna replace all of them anyhow. What's the latest consensus on trailer tires, is there a preferred tire out there? 225/75/15, need a load range E as the trailer is 10K loaded and it's double axle.

When I had my toy hauler, I switched to 16” wheels. Had a lot better selection of tires. I went with Yokohama’s LT load range E, they also have better speed ratings.

14 ply steel Goodyear or Coopertire generic.
I believe they come in load rating G and H
I’ll get the # up in a few
The only drawback is you can’t air them down.
They don’t dry out so they last longer
And they really can take the abuse.

I have 15" rims, not sure if a 14 ply / Load range G is available?

15" 6 lug wheels, tandem axle, max trailer weight 10,000lb. Current tire size is 225/75/15 E
Ok 6 lug usually comes with 16". If you go up to 16 you can get a better selection of tires.

Has anybody noticed any particular brand or type of tire that does better with the scuff wear? My dad tends to wear through trailer tires due to the hard backing turn he has to make to put the trailer away everytime.

I was using Maxxis and just bought some Goodyear endurance 225 75-15 e, they are made in usa and were cheaper than the Maxxis
I paid 109 each for them, My toy hauler is triple axle and I buy 2 every year so every 3 years I'm getting new tires

I found load range F / 12 Ply available in 225/75/15. Hercules or Greenball. I also found the Carslile Trail HD tires at Walmart for $67.00.....thats crazy cheap! https://www.walmart.com/ip/Carlisle...75035&wl11=online&wl12=55012166&wl13=&veh=sem

I never had great luck with the Carslils they were like time bombs.

When I had my 5th wheel, I had descent luck with the Herules- I purchased them for a pretty decent price at Grand American Tire in Simi. (They also do alot of work for Simi RV) They gave me a great OTD price with no extra fees and all of the nonsense that usually follows.

Not totally sure of your set up, I think you have a bumper pull trailer that isn't a super big. I dont think the tire issues on smaller bumper pull trailers are as bad as the triple axle 35'+ fifth wheels That are packed to the gills with toys and crap far exceeding the weight limit rolling down the road.

I have had both fifth wheels and bumper tows and never had the same tire issues with my bumper tow trailer.

The trailer is a 27' bumper pull, but has 150 gallon fresh water, 4 seat rzr, 3 kid quads, family gear, etc etc. Loaded weight is estimated at 10k, so its rolling close to the max tire load for a Load range E

How's the performance of the GY Endurance tires so far? We'll be working on buddy's truck for rancho lift kit installation and a new set of tires for his RV. He's thinking to get either Maxxis or the new Endurance tires.

I've only pulled the trailer twice with them on it, what I liked was that they were only a couple of weeks old when I bought them(3017) and I bought them in October, the Maxxis I replaced were starting to separate, 3 years and they are done! The Goodyears were $30 each cheaper and made in America, The tire shop I purchased from (Tucker Tire) say they will
be stocking the GY from now on

E range varies from brand to brand but they're usually in the 3-4k area. Make sure you look up each brand you're considering before buying. Buying least expensive isn't always the bargain, an extra few bucks could add significant load capacity.

Just put the goodyears on my camper and they seem to be doing well so far. Was happy to finally have a made in USA option for trailer tires. Got them at Americas Tire.

With a loaded weight of 10k and a double axle, I think the G or H rated would be overkill. If I had a 15k double axle toyhauler I would do it for sure though.

225/75/15 Goodyears:

100 rebate right now, too.

If you're gonna run 15's then you're pretty much stuck with trailer tires, so flip a coin...upgrade to 16's and you can find some LT tires that'll cost more but last longer.

Those are load range D. The Goodyears (load range E) that I linked to are spec'd the same as the Maxxis 10 plys. They are made in USA and going to be fresh no matter where you buy them since they just came out. Personally, if you are going to stick with the 15" rim, those are the tires I would buy.
