I'll be trailering/moving my boat to the Phoenix area from Northern California, last load out.

I 10 through LA seems like I always see a lot of flat tires from the roads and road construction.

Anyone know or recommend if going over Tehachapi 58 to 40 to 95 to 10
would be a better and friendlier route trailering a small boat?
I want to make this as painless as possible for me and the boat.

Yes the 58 is the best way to stay safe and out of LA. We live in Bakersfield and its our only way we go.
On the 58 between Bakersfield And tehachapi, Watch the right lanes at some points near over some passes. They have some messed up asphalt/ broken up road. Just stay in left lane if safe to avoid pot holes caused by big rigs.

I normally stay out of LA at all costs but the 58 is so beat to shit along with the 99. Just a truck would be fine but a boat it beats the dogpiss out of the poor thing. It’s not bad when you get over the pass. Not the best but a lot better. There’s a lot of craters in the road. Make sure to have a spare

If you do 95 to 10 you could drop it in in parker on the way by. But I heard it is closed.

Just drove from Bakersfield to Havasu last Sunday. I hadn't gone that route in a long time. The road from Mohave to Barstow is all 2 lanes both directions freeway now. The last time I drove it, It was a two lane from Boron to Barstow.

It will be smooth sailing for ya. 99 South 58 west to 40 west to 95 south then pickup the 10 east. Easy

You might think about using the 95 south on the california side. It might be quicker then rolling through havasu

The 40 between CA and the 93 is going to beat the shit outta that trailer. Can drop down CA 95 to I-10 and it’ll be smoother sailing. Just watch out for those prick Chippys

If doing this make sure to have a RDP sticker so you can get a free pass from all the cry babies on here that complain about left lane towing.

I would put it on a flatbed, and get it off the ground. The roads have a lot of potholes after all the rains this year. I’m dealing with a baseball size chip on the bottom side. 😒

Thanks and I appreciate everyone's input, advice and information on the road conditions.
I think I will go 99, 58, 40, 95, 10
and take my time.
Looking forward to getting it on the River at some point after I get settled.
Thanks Regan

Do you think 5 is better than 99 to 58?
I haven't been on 99 for a long time
Depends on where you’re coming from. You’ll need to jump over to the 99 from the 5 at some point, probably 198 at Harris Ranch. 5 has some monster potholes as well, but 99 is a dumpster fire(most of it). Bad ass boat by the way!

Why not 40 to 93 through Wikieup and Wickenburg then you have several options on where you need to be in the valley.

The 60 from Wickenberg to Phoenix is awful. Avoid at all costs, giant potholes everywhere in both lanes. I would stick with 95/10.
