Happened to me once at lake mead, saw a guy launching his 42 ft fountain by himself and offered a hand. all he asked was to back it down in a 3/4 ton Surburban. the weirdest sensation is when you have the brakes pressed hard near the floor and it keeps on going.

The first first time I launched a big boy 30+ foot boat for a buddy, I couldn't even pull the empty trailer out of the water lol, had to do into 4-High. First time that happened opened my eyes

Trailer probably had surge brakes. Surge brakes wont work on ramps.
