The 5 in South OC now. Should have bought a Freightliner or an F150.

Well there is one less three-quarter ton suburban on the road to worry about now that one is a total.

I used to tow a 30’ WW toy hauler with my 2500 8.1 sub with 39.5 tires, the power was fine but the stopping sucked. Nowadays it stays in Havasu and is the boat launcher.

Lol It is interesting hearing the brakes sucked on these 3/4 Sub Tubs... they had the same brakes as the the Duramax 2500HDs of the same vintage that everyone here knowingly tows over the 10,500# tow limit with.

And every modern half ton truck has bigger, more robust brakes than these old 3/4 ton Suburbans. 😂

Just want to say I never had a brake problem in my 2500 yukon. Even when my trailer brakes had a small issue.
I also pass F150 like it's race day towing.o_O

My braking issues were from giant tires but I was used to it and wasn’t anything where I felt unsafe.

Oh come on, he has all the horse power he needs in that Porsche to tow that trailer plus he has a 6,000 # GVWR . I love hearing people say that, you know its more about stopping the load then being able to pull it. We were at a launch ramp once and this guy with an Audi SUV rolls up with a big ass Cobalt the doors open and it a freaking circus act as people come pouring out of that car like a clown car. I looked at my boys and they were shaking there heads, one had his phone out and was looking to see how under rated that this was. Holy shit people put so much at risk just being stupid.

Wrong again Dan’l.

Without actually telling you how big each of the brakes are, I’d love for you to tell me how 16” wheels fit on a 15 year old 3/4 ton GM truck and they won’t fit on a new 1/2 ton with “smaller” (actually bigger) brakes.

Massive! LoL

Always wondered if there actually was any difference, or it was just something LOF read online someplace. Like...

halftonscantowanything.com

😝
I’ve spent plenty of time wrenching on mid 2000s 3/4 ton GM trucks. Everything under a modern half ton is bigger aside from the rear axle. That is why a modern 1/2 ton has the same tow rating.

A 3/4 ton Suburban is only rated to to 9600 lbs. Can’t wait to hear how the towing police will dance around that one 😂

Yes the F-150 brakes are bigger.
That's all I said.

With the 8.1 it’s 12,000 lbs

I can’t find documentation anywhere that states it is over 10,000, but one guy on a forum said it went to 12,000 only if you had 4.10s.

And people whine about fuel mileage :)
