Tough day for our son / lost two Marines in his unit this weekend - RIP

They were from my son's squadron, HMLA 369, training in Yuma over the weekend, and our son is a Sargent that oversees airframe maintenance on the birds.

Terrible loss, rest in peace Marines.

Always sad to lose soldiers. Probably worse though, it being on their homeland. In a sad way, it may help the healing process start quicker for the families, but may be harder on the members of the unit

If you saw Apaches then it wasn't them. Marines don't fly Apaches, they use Cobras.

We saw helicopters flying over the river while we were on the sandbar on Saturday afternoon. As always, we all paused and admired them, followed by various comments about how those are the sights and sounds of freedom. While they may not be, I can't help but think one of those helicopters may have been the one that didn't make it home [emoji22]. May they rest in peace...

Always gives me goosebumps....these apaches saw us last year and came in for a fly by, they clearly went out of their way to buzz us, we could see the gunner in the door waiving at us. Merica.
