Has anyone done just the procomp torsion key lift? Pros? Cons? I really don't want to spend the money on the cognito lift and I'm hearing around 10k miles you have to replace the ball joints

I did leveling keys on my Chevy 3500. I had to do aftermarket upper arms because the factory arm topped out and gave me a really bad rebound… like scary bad! 🤣

Seems like I got 50-60k before I did ball joints.

I did. I will never recommend it. The ride was terrible and I chewed through upper and lowers. I could never hold alignment. Not my preference. If I did it all over again, I would do a coil conversion. Many make them now. Bds, kibbitech, lsk..

Done hundreds of torsion key lifts. They work great but the truck will ride stiffer and yes you’ll be replacing factory parts in the future. GM (assuming your truck is GM) spent tens of millions of dollars engineering the suspension on that truck and we keep putting cheap lift kits on them expecting the truck to last as long as stock. It’s the price you’ll pay to have a good looking truck🤘🏼

How high did you turn your keys? I'm seeing the procomp keys 2.5 that should be plenty to level my 2500 right

I did it on my Lincoln Navigatior. Added about 1.5 in to level it nicely.

What frame? 2011 up no way. It's easily 3 inches to level. Mine were cranked high, then I turned them down. Still hated it. I gave the whole set up to my buddy after I went with a full 4" kit on uniball uppers. He ended up selling the entire truck. Bought a new one and put the same 4" cognito.

On a 1500, they seem to be ok. The torsion bars are softer. On a 2500 or 3500, they don't like being preloaded that much.

😁😁 wasn't really looking for the hood look so much as just wanted to level my truck and not spend thousands of dollars to do it

Should have bought a dodge or Ford then. That's my honest answer. I tell everyone all the time. I bought the world's most expensive leveling kit. Straight axel guys it's easy.

Those frames sit much higher than the predecessors. Those could be done without too much stress. These newer frames, it just takes too much to level and it puts too much stress on everything. Just my opinion.

We went new truck shopping last week 103k for dodge 81k for a 21 f250 with 15k miles 85 k for a GMC and 70k for the chevy I think I will keep my 17

I don't blame you. But I have found, leveling GM and not spending money, cannot be in the same sentence.
Ok thank you but everyone says the cognito kit is the best but you have to replace ball joints every 10k miles sounds a little ridiculous

It's not perfect. Like I said, if I could do it again. I would go coil conversion. It's actually cheaper than the cognito if you add all the bells and whistles like i did. I mean, the upgraded sway bar, uniball Arms, upgraded shocks, etc...but bds didn't have it out yet.

I can't speak for the ball joints on cognito. I have the uniball uppers and kryptonite lowers. Kryptonite front end. My uniballs are on a scheduled maintenance cause I'm crazy.

My dad did it on a 2500 to try and level out the truck, hated it and took it off. Said it road horrible.

I did the Cognito upper arm and key, fox shocks, and then a -2” rear hanger on the rear and my truck rides 100x better than stock imho. On 285/75r18’s and nothing cut.

This would be another way about. 100%. I bet your truck looks fantastic too.

This was a secondary thought for me. I made this recommendation to another buddy of mine. I think it's a perfect combination.

Edit: only to add that, with this combo you're really only cranking about an inch. On.the front.

Yea about an inch max, right offset wheels etc so the basically 35’s fit with no rubbage.

The only reason to replace ball joins is if the lift puts them at or near their articulation limit.

I know a bunch of expensive control arms are out there…has anyone used the rough country arms? I imagine they correct the bJ angle, but don’t really trust the lady at the phone center when I called to ask.

Ha! I guess auto spell changed Good to hood 😂
Torsion key lifts are perfect for leveling the truck
But they will change the ride height geometry of the stock suspension which will In turn cause more stress on stock parts. So as long as you know that you’ll be fine. Besides, gm lists all suspension and steering components as 60k mile parts and we usually drive on them way more than 60k miles before we even consider replacing them.

I installed a 4" Cognito with. A arms on my 2003 1500HD GMC when it was 3 years old. It has about a buck and a half on the odo now with Cognitos ball joints, and their fine. I just purchased a leveling kit from Cognito for my '15

1500 GMC - A arms and Fox shocks. I guess I'll see if they put in poor ball joints in a couple years.

2017 2500 GMC with Cognito Upper Arms and 2.5" leveling kit with keys cranked up. I have 33" all terrains. Trucks rides good, not as good as factory though. I've had good luck.

I have a set of Cognito upper control arms I took off my 2016. You’ll need to put new ball joints in but that’s cheap. Message me if interested. I would definitely upgrade your UCA.
