Topock or PC

In the last year, I've noticed some changes the owners seem to be making and I'm wondering if it's swaying you to one place or the other.

Topock > Turning into a family resort with kids playing romper room in the pool with no supervision, and of course with that goes the pool urine in your drinks.

Pirates Cove > While it started off playing whatever kind of music they wanted, Art toned it down a bit to keep families from complaining, but now he seems to be going in the right direction again and doing what he pleases.

I honestly prefer getting a sandwich from Campbell Cove Deli (76 gas station) and eating by my boat. I just bought a portable gas BBQ last week so we are going to be BBQ'ing as well.

If I had to choose between Topock or PC, I would go with Topac. For some reason the water at PC grosses me out. The only time we go to PC or Topock is if we have friends with us who have never been there before.

i travel hundreds of miles to enjoy swimming in the waters of havasu and when we are out there we always say..."hmm..lets go sit in a pool". I personally like sitting pool side at Topock for the sunset with a drink and since we stay at Park Moabi..its a nice way to end the day with an easy drive home. both places are good in my book.

The water is running through the channel. There's no outlet at PC so the water is stagnant.

Topock for breakfast and the pool so my daughter can swim, then we go to Pirates to chill a few hours on a Sunday.

Never go north on a Saturday anymore

I call them Steel and Wood (based on their themes), and I prefer steel.... Therefore we are Topock people. I like being able to see the river from my table, and I like trains. :rolleyes

Plus I collect those magnets in the cup bottoms!

Topoc is great for weekday boating. It's just way too busy on weekends, but I'll still go sometimes. Just depends on what I feel like. You are right about the excessive children. Topoc reminds me of why I dislike the AVI. I'm just waiting for them to build the hotel and start renting Sea-Doos. :rolleyes

I usually only head to PC if I have people to meet there or feel like people watching. There are so many nice sandy beaches and hidden lagoons on the river that I'd rather spend my time at. I can cook up a better meal for everyone in my group with my cheap little BBQ, while drinking my own beers or cocktails for less money than both places.

If I want to bar hop, I stay at the beach.

I really enjoy both places. I like the food and pool deal at Topock but also enjoy chilling on a sandy beach across from Pirates so my kids can run around in the sand.

Food is good at both places however I feel that the prices at PC are ridiculous. Not a huge fan of the limited menu and seems like they rape you for food and drinks with little booze. Just my 2 cents. Regardless I would much rather be at either place right now instead of work.

LOL. I have a few of them on my tool box in the garage. I always forget that I put them in my wallet until later the next week. :thumbup:

That's true. That's why I like hanging out in the Gorge. Cool water and beautiful views.

The service (and food) and Topock was infinitely better to me.

Don't think I'll ever go to either Pirates again.

For me personally I prefer Topock......I like the food much better and it is definitely a better deal.

PC for me is too much like Disneyland meaning that it's "Manufactured" and always seems kinda out of place with the thatched rook, Polynesian theme going on.....not to mention that the price of drinks and beer there is just stupid IMO:skull

The Moabi inlet does have a channeled outlet. But is not obvious from the river access. There is a filtered lagoon and underwater tunnels providing some fresh current to flow in and out.

I like them both. Being waterfront in the RV on a peninsula site is hard to beat. And the docks for keeping the boat on the water at night. The food is better at Topock. Their breakfast burrito is killer. But I like the old Topock better than the new one. The view out the old bar overlooking the wetlands was aweome

I feel PC is a rip off. Topock has a pretty neat environment though.

I prefer my own beer and a sandwich on a beach before you get to either of them.

Last 6 times or so I've been to PC in the last 2 months, it appears there is a ton of the plants/week crap that flows towards the entrance/exit. So if you're just sitting in the piss water, you get attacked by them. Ok at first, but gets annoying. Scenary seems to be better at PC too. :boobeyes:

I used to eat at topock but once it was torn down we started the Campbell cove deal and love it.

The food at both places IMHO is far from great which is why we prefer to make our own sandwiches or bbq on a beach before going to either.
The water at PC does get stagnant and gross at times, but last time we went into the pool at Topock, I got out smelling like a dirty rest stop. and I'm not sure who's pissing in the pool, the adults, the kids or the dogs.

I like Topock's food, but the service is hit and miss. When its bad...its real bad. Like "i forgot you even ordered food" bad.
I like Pirates location / beaches more. I lean toward pirates

For food and watching drunks park their boats on that part of the river, the 66 does well.

I prefer pirates because it's nice to park on the end, hang out and have a wrench and tune session for your buddy's flat bottom.
Sundays at Pirates = Win.

Been to pirates once was fine but hated the parking acces for boats.

Every trip we go to a beach south near topock to topock for lunch then head to havasu or sandbar.We stay at needles marina and drive boat down.We have 2 kids so they prefer topock as well and theres the pool bar which makes getting a drink easy.

The last couple of trips since were in boat all day we decided to try dinner there as well worked out well and did the same last time made a nice near sunset ride back to needles and no cooking back at the camp just float on the boat with the tunes and finish off some beers while anchored.

Nailed it..... I am not a picky eater but PC is gross. Not worth the wait or the money. BTW... You got a grill bro?, taquitos on you.... I finally retired ole faithful... she was beat up
